Title: Another Yank Game Coming Over.
L.T.F.C - January 17, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
NFL bollocks Another gridiron(never football never call it football not even american football) game is being played here again. I see the day when a premiership game is played in china, usa etc is coming sooner. I know my team would not be affected but still I think its a sad state of events.
Lawnmower Man - January 17, 2008 11:56 PM (GMT)
I don't see the prob, American football's a good laugh. And I've got no problem with something competing with football for the attentions of the jester's hat types...might have a knock-on effect on ticket prices.

I don't really see the problem either. I'd hate to see football become more like the NFL (although I do admire their socialist distribution of wealth that ensures healthy competition) and I find the game quite tiresome, and it's unfair on the home fans of the teams involved, but I don't begrudge the odd game in the UK.
I just hope it's in Cardiff so the yanks can enjoy their day out a bit more! ;)

Don't see the f*cking problem!
Jesus Christ, this is a regualr league game their on about here not a pre season show.
Thousands of ST holders over there will have once less game to go to but still have to pay out the same if not more for their ticket because some no mark in this country wants to see a game.
It's paving the way for it happening over here with the prem and whoever else if the figures add up.
Put simply if more money can be made by having Leeds v cardiff play in upalumpa land than if they played at home then guess what fellas.....
Don't see the f*cking problem, deary me the worlds gone mad, you want to see NFL well go and watch it in it's rightful place over the f*cking pond!

I agree.
When it happened the first time the people on radio 5 live were going on about when it will happen to a premiership game. The thing that annoyed me though was that they were talking about it as if it was a good thing.
They were saying things like it will increase the global appreciation of the sport or something.
trout that!

Quite right.
It makes perfect financial sense for Premiership teams to wander over to East Asia or the US to play a couple of league matches. Interest would be huge, attendances would be large, and it would be a great opportunity for some of the wealthier British fans to have a nice holiday.
trout that! Can you imagine how pissed off you weren't abe to attend the first match of your team's season because they decided to play it in Malaysia?!

It would be an absolute disgrace for the proper game of football to follow this, Liverpool v Man Utd in Japan, I can see it now

Agree with your piece about spreading the wealth, I think that is very good. But they can get the hell out of this country. A team is about that area, not the other side of the world, get your own team or travel, these people have no morals. They make me feel sick

Well the game before the club leaves for Japan would be my last.
They ever decide to play a domestic game on foreign shores, they can forget ever getting another penny off me.
watermelon man - January 19, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
Anyone want to put any bets on FC Liverpool of Merseyside being formed?
Also I've just searched google quickly to see if any protest site is being set up against NFL matches being held outside the US. I couldn't find one but I didn't do a thorough enough search, there definately should be one, or at least a petition.
I did find this however, seems like the fans are completely against it.

Same mate.
I know some people here do like NFL, but its wrong that official games are played here. There would be ALOT more protest if a prem game was played abroad, we do things alot differently to the americans.
