Title: I HATE SKY

Graemeboro - September 27, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
Argh! I hate them, now they've changed the date and time of the Fulham away game I have enough problems getting to the Man City game next month and now they've gone and put the Fulham game on a Monday night, 8pm kick-off, the same day I have a very important exam, my chances of going to the game are next to zero unless I can somehow find cheap flights down and legit to the game all in the space of 4 hours.

Talk about pushing fans out of the game. That weekend was planned to be one when we stayed over in London, not anymore. I really don't think I stand a chance of getting to this one. For me, personally, there's nothing worse than watching a game of your team on the TV with the frustration of not being there. Tvvats.

Totally agree

Had to miss best FA Cup final last season coz Sky decided to show our home leg of Play off against Cheltenham straight afteer that - 5.45 kick off - was delayed by 15 mins on the night coz of the extra time and penalty drama. Our gate was 5,300 for this as well coz sky fu'ked it up for us.
Couple of years ago I was looking forward to Sheff Weds home and away and praying not night games- they werent until sky decided to show both our home AND away games against them which really affected the crowd again. Sky dont care about the real fans just armchair ones.

Apparently the clubs have the final decision as to whether the game is to be shown on Sky...

I hate Sky and all they stand for.
Refuse to subscribe or to buy any Murdoch papers.

A few years ago West Ham were made to play an fa cup 5th round at Sunderalnd at 12.00. This was just after the Hatfield crash and it was impossible to get there on the day by train. coaches left at 4am.

I phoned West Ham to complain & they said I needed to speak to the FA. Spoke to the FA who said it was the club's decision. Went back to West Ham and insisted I spoke to someone more senior. They put me through to someone who was as helpful as he could, and eventually admitted that West Ham could have refused the changed kick off time, but they wanted the Sky money. In fairness to West Ham they laid on 100 free coaches for ther travelling 5000, but that's not the point. Clubs don't like to admit it, but they are either too keen to get the money, or don't want to rock the boat by refusing kick off change. Has a club ever refused Sky coverage I wonder?

Refusing to allow Murdoch to stop me watching West Ham, and went on the official club plane trip (two planes, approx 300 fans) at cost of £200. My wife hasn't let me forget it!

As Peter says, clubs want the money it's their major income and they don't want to rock the boat.

The sooner football eats itself the better.

I know now how Premier League supporters feel. Hibs have NO Saturday 3pm games in the month of October.

A week tomorrow its the Edinburgh Derby which has been moved to a Sunday 2pm KO for Setanta. The week after that were away to Dunfirmline on the monday night for TV, 7.45 KO, which isn't too bad as its only a 50 mile round trip journey, but still a major pain in the arse and the week after that we're away to Aberdeen, 7.45 KO, 300+ miles round trip, for TV again, meaning for me to attend that, i'll need Monday afternoon of college and the monday night off work (which has already been arranged).

FUCK PAY TV :ph43r:

The above post was by me BTW ;)

Agree on the sky thing, but the fact is clubs are too greedy and will take the cash all the time. We've opted to play in the UEFA Cup on a thursday night, and not take an extra days rest by playing on the sunday, but kept it on the saturday because sky are showing the game! This taken from nufc.com:

However, our home game against Sheffield United on Saturday November 4th seems unlikely to be changed, as we are due to feature on Sky's Prem Plus pay-per-view channel.

This game will be kicking off only 44 hours after our game in Sicily against Palermo finishes.

The precedent for this happened in the 2003-04 season when our home game against Basle was followed by a Saturday lunchtime kick-off against Wolves at Molineux - the infamous firework incident game.

Freddy Shepherd infuriated then manager, Bobby Robson, by refusing to turn down the few hundred grand match fee for the sake of moving the game back 26 hours.

What state our lads will be in after travelling back from Italy is anyone's guess but our wafer-thin squad will be tested to the full against the super-fit Blades.

Being shown on Sky means a lot of money for the clubs involved so I don't see many situations where clubs will opt against being shown.
