Title: Freeview
Description: Can you upgrade
ManicBlue - October 5, 2007 08:58 AM (GMT)
From what I can gather Freeview generally includes a set number of channels, but is it possible to upgrade to more channels (UK Gold etc) on all Freeview sets, or just some of them? Also, if you then upgrade, do you then pay monthly subscription costs, or is it a one-off again? Thanks.

Your box needs to have a top up tv slot I think. And once you've purchased teh card its just a tenner a month, either by direct debit or you phone and make a payment. I wouldn't bother TBH, you can get the basic Virgin Media package for around the same price.

I recommend virgin basic tv package, then maybe have a look at the eurovox on ebay.
Might be suprised at what it can do. ;)

Thanks for the info fellas.
Got a Thomson topuptv box last week. Costs just under a ton, but the ariel couldn't even pick up some of the basic channels, and that was before you subscribed to extra channels.
Anyway, because I am entitled to a free month's upgrade, I've gone ahead with that and hopefully the signal should be boosted (haven't been back home yet to find out but will later tonight - apparently it takes one-two days).
As for Virgin Media, the property is located in a block of flats and television is received by a communal ariel. I don't know if there is the option of cable.
What I would also warn anyone about, is some of the channels on this package flicker really badly. Whether these are early day gliches remains to be seen, so I would definately say be wary.

Isn't new. Just UKTV G2 rebranded.
Although they have changed some of their line-up. Never used to show 'Whose line is it anyway?'.
Worst thing about the rebranding is that my mate Dave's ego has now inflated dramatically, and it wasn't small to begin with!
