Looking at getting a bike (need to get my ars into gear and start exercing etc), but with a view to mainly cycling on-road. It is still advisable to get a mountain bike, seeing as they've now saturated the market and can be well cheap, or should I get a more specialised tourer or something? Not looking at cycling 1000s of miles, but would like to get something lightweight as possible, but does that come at a cost?
Thanks.

I bought my current bike in February and has been a good bike for me.
Got it from pembury Cycles, don't know if there is one near you....
It cost about £60 if I remember rightly, what you'll find when you cycle on the road is that a lot of people have "racing bikes" and they can go a LOT faster than mountain bikes which is a little bit frustrating when you are cycling along and someone flies past you putting in the same amount of effort...
Think I might get one of them, cheers Chalky.
Got hold of the website, and they don't have a branch up here unfortunately.
