Fkn excellent m8.

Keep them coming.

Forza Basel BTW B) ;)

Seb - September 23, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
That looks absolutely quality. I really do want to travel round Europe at one stage and experience all these things for myself.

zueri - September 24, 2007 07:13 AM (GMT)
hello guys!

forza basel my ar*e :P

yesterday was the first match in our new stadium and we played against grasshoppers. The grasshoppers fans didn't turn up they boycotted the match because the tickets prices were so high for this opening match! in two days (wednesday) we play against basel and their fans come to town but wont come in the ground. they also refuse to pay these high ticket prices, so they stay outside the ground and chant for the team from there.

this new stadium is built for athletic sports and the european championship next summer. both, grasshopers and fc zurich rent this stadium, both have the same costs for renting this ground BUT if you want to watch a fc zurich home match it costs a lot more than watching grasshoppers playing there. that's why the basel fans make this protest. on wednesday when the play against us they must pay 17£ for a ticket but few weeks later when they play against grasshoppers the tickets will be 7£ cheaper.

here are some pictures from the opening match yesterday, the zurich derby (4:0)

That's awesome. travelling but not going in, in protest. Wouldnt get that over here!

zueri - September 24, 2007 12:05 PM (GMT)
yes.. on the one hand it's good but on the other hand it will cause a riot! it's always a high risk match and now while they will all stand outside the ground it could get worse

That is absoulte quality! not turning up at all can be put off as apathy.

It happened once at our place. Barnsley brought about 600 who wnet to the game, about 50 stayed outside to protest. Says it all

not that many basel fans travelled to zurich (match was on tv, midweek, expected riots)

:D That is superb.

What does the Basle message banner say in the ground!?

zueri - October 3, 2007 06:37 AM (GMT)
"red are the empty seats, blue the eternal staunchness"

hope this is the right translation

(related to the club colours of fc basel)

Some nice choreo, though I've never been a fan of pyro/flares. Perhaps I've read too many FLA papers but it never seems particularly safe waving fireballs around the stands.

i don't know how much you know about the ulras scene. you properly know that each club has there ultra groups and each group have there own flag. and the flag is hanging on the fences in the ground. the flag is kinda a sainthood and nobody would ever touch or try to remove the flag. only members of the ultra group are allowed to do such things with there own flag. these flags are targets of the rival ultras and of course they try to steal the flags every now and then. there are hardly any attempts for stealing in the ground during the match but you have to be aware on your way home or on the way to match that rival ultras try to attack you to steal the flag. if this happens, i mean if you loose a flag to rival ultras your own group must break up. you lose face.. this is an honor thing. i hope you unterstand what i mean :)
anyway.. a grasshoppers ultra group (called bulldogs) did "observe" a ultra group of fc zurich (called anthrax) to find out where (garage / house) the flags are stored. and as soon they found out where the flags are they broke into this building and stole there flags. this happened a few weeks ago...
two weeks ago thy guys from anthrax found out where the leader of the bulldogs is living and they went to his flat to hijack him. they forced him (with violence) to tell where they stolen flags are stored but because they were about 20 hooded guys the neighbors saw this and called the police. the 20 guys and "the cought" were on the by car to the place where the stolen flags are until they noticed that the police were after them. so they set the guy free.

anyway.. in the pictures i posted few weeks ago you'll see the anthrax flag but as i said, they don't exist anymore now.

i thought you may be intersted in that story because a lot of football fans don't know what else the ultras scene does comprise. these things happen in every league in europe where the ultras are present.

just another example regarding the flag and sainthood: because we have fences the flags are hanged on them so if you're in the front of the curve you wont see much of the game. and it happens again and again that some (new or stupid) fans try to put the flag away so that they can see the match. if you do that they will kick the tench out of you.

and something else last. we swiss are all very disappointed that none british team will come to our country next year for the Euro2008!!!

I love the ultra scene but I don't get some of the crazy rules they have in place like breaking the group up.

Didn't the Fdl break up two seasons ago as their group banner was stolen (at knife point). The Curva Sud and the San Siro has never been the same again, and probably never will :(

Were they nae ambushed at an airport after a Euro away by the Juve Vikings?

tbh i wouldn't like it if the ultra scene came to England. It seems far too organised and silly. All this flag-stealing business seems pathetic.

Better than what we've got now!

Although I agree about the flag stealing.

it used to happen in england/wales if you read the jack army book(swansea) they said the main point was to steal the oppositions flags or scarfs as some kind of achievement

You should stop playing against German teams. 0-5 against Leverkusen, now 1-3 against Hamburg. However, the atmosphere seemed to be quite well, for what I heard on TV.

zueri - February 15, 2008 10:03 AM (GMT)
yep.. it didn't went well against both of them but we're in the middle of the process to rebuild our team. we lost 8 (!!) of our key players in the last 6 months.

next match is on sunday at home against basel. if we don't win this match we'll definitely be out of the title race...

The boycotts made an impact!

FC Zurich will reduce ticket prices for the next season... finally!

I'm looking forward to the next season as derby games against Basel and Grasshoppers were a bit "boring" without their fans

Berne/Basel, Switzerland - Police used rubber bullets to restore order after football fans clashed in Berne and Basel in Switzerland following two Super League games Friday night. A number of fans and a police officer were hurt in clashes in Berne, according to a police statement where trouble erupted after Young Boys lost 3-1 to visitors Xamax Neuchatel.

Sixteen people were hurt in violence during and after the FC Basel -FC Zurich game. Basel beat their opponents 4-0 at their home ground of St Jakob Park, where Switzerland is due to meet the Czech Republic when Euro 2008 kicks off on June 7.

Three people including a police officer needed hospital treatment after missiles were thrown. Police said 12 people were arrested.
