Last Saturday after weeks of technical faults whenever the wind farted in the direction of my dish, added to the majority of 5:15 aways we have coming up I jacked Sky in.
After 5+ years paying top dollar (prem plus the lot) I sacked it off and Sky in my amazement they didn't even attempt to keep me on, took all of 4 minutes to cancel.
To me that say's "we're making so much money why bother with customer retention". Let's be honest what are you paying for with your £44 a month?
Football - Getting less
Movies - Always been utter pish
Old BBC comedies
Simpsons
Lost
24
Thats it.
So back to my question, why bother when all of these things and more a freely available (if you were so inclined) to anybody with no techy knowledge at all on the wondrous web?
The only hiccup (all be it a major one) is the one of quality for the live footy. However these are getting better all the time and (apparently) if you willing to pay a small fee (about £3 a month apparently) you can get very good quality streams.
If you want to make a difference about atmosphere, kick off time, mercanery players whatever surely the main target for EVERYBODY should be the little Aussie rip off merchant, no?
I always stayed clear of them tbh because I knew it would, eventually, ruin the TV companies, but I've come to hate SkySports so much I couldn't really care.
And don't forget the Simpsons is rubbish nowadays as well. If you don't have a problem with only watching yours and a few clubs (when you don't go to games of course), and downloading movies and tv shows (in many cases sites just stream them online too) then there really is no need for sky. Just switch your computer chair for your comfy one in front of the TV and voila. Better yet, burn stuff on disc and then watch it on the DVD player. Wonderful.
your favourite tv series is available online before it's on sky for free and as for football - go to the pub. simple.
