Title: Dfb Pokal Round 1

unibee - July 9, 2007 05:14 PM (GMT)
I'm giving the Ligapokal a miss, but am I right in thinking this is the main cup in Germany, so like our FA Cup? I notice that the first round draw has been made and that the ties are on the weekend of 4th August, ie. before the English season starts.

I notice all of the big teams are away, is this a fix?

Anyhow, one team that are playing at home are St.Pauli (verses Leverkusen) which is somewhere I really want to go. A quick google finds that I can get a 1p Ryanair flight to Lubeck early Saturday morning and one back from Bremen late Sunday evening. Hamburg to Bremen is 1.25hrs by local train.

It's very tempting, though a couple of questions:

1. Is this a worthwhle competition?
2. What is likely to be the ticket situation at St.Pauli for this game?
3. I've found this website,

http://www.fcstpauli.de/

but cannot find details of the tickets, just a lot of agencies. Is there an easy way to find them?

4. From the list below, are there any teams in the Bremen area playing at home on Sunday? Bremen 2 is obviously one (they play FC Koln), but are there any more?

Thanks

Chris

The Big Teams are away because if they are drawn at home it is switched ;)

So a fix is true in some ways

St. Pauli...My Grandad was telling me about the City (Hamburg) would love to go to this as well Chris ;) :D :P

standupandsing is right, all 1st and 2nd league club(except the promoted one's from the 3rd leauge - iirc) are always away in the first round. So it is very often "big clubs visits small village" and not that easy to get tickets. 2nd teams of the big clubs are an exception there.

The DFB-Pokal is the main cup-competition in Germany, like your FA-Cup. Although I'm not very familiar with the situation at St.Pauli I would assume that it won't be easy to get tickets there. Leverkusen isn't known to attract a lot of people but St.Pauli is kind of "big deal" in the Cup throwing out big teams at home very often and their ground is still being reconstructed. So there is one of the stands missing and the club's page states that the new stand wont be finished up to the start of the season which nearly equals the first round of the cup.

-> dunno :D

if you are there i'd choose the bremen2 vs cologne match. should be easy to get tickets, if they play in the weserstadion(think so). kiel - hamburg would also be ok but i think kiel's ground is very small and hsv has many fans in that area.
cologne's fans are very good and will be there in good numbers i think

havent taken a serious look, maybe you can find sth here : http://www.fcstpauli.de/sp/pages/club/Info..._in_english.php

Wilhelmshaven and Osnabrück seem to be the nearest cities to Bremen. Both located around 100 km north(Wilhelmshaven) and respectively south(Osnabrück) of Bremen. But I have no idea about tickets for these games.
