Jeeeez that is good.
It reminds me of Leicester v's QPR last season, but without the big crowd, the singing and the fireworks.

i don't know if it's because i'm a bit older than quite a few on here but i've never wanted all that flares and fireworks and 300' square flags stuff at english football. the atmosphere at english football used to be purely about the noise created by the crowd (with some raggy little flags admittedly - but they tended to be homemeade and therefore have much more character).
For me (and a lot of people my age or older i think) the european "ultras" style stuff always seemed a little bit like they were trying a bit too hard. all you need is a crowd of blokes, stood, singing. anything else is just unnecessary add-on.

i see your point mate it just depends on what you like, im into all that ultra stuff and would like to see that in english/uk leagues more, and homemade flags are alot better :D

I quite like the flags & stuff, don't know why..Just adds colour really
purpleronnie - June 26, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
English crowds just look dull and boring.
purpleronnie - June 26, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
You crazy scots.
Don't agree with throwing it on the pitch though, thats a bit silly.

Made the point before about how I'm not too keen on the "Ultra" culture - you want colour, that is something that replica shirt, jester hat wearing types would provide, no?
Far sooner get a crowd of plain dressed blokes just standing together making a hell of a din, football as it should be. We just look boring at the minute, because football crowds are largely a bunch of fairweather, prawn sandwich munching turnips.
And just to prove English fans can still make a hell of a din, occasionally...

I think by colour he means, flags, banners, flare and smoke.
As for the link you provided the problem is you go to games abroad they have that noise for 90 minutes not just 1 minute. Was that italian fans who threw the flare on the pitch?
Gunner Michael - July 3, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
I know, I was being facetious, there was no call for it.
The video was taken from the away section and I'm guessing it was the Benfica fans. Flares aren't really an English thing, especially in 2007.
Interestingly, reading the comments some Potugese guy wrote on there how he considers British fans to be the best in the world - presumeably he hasn't seen a game over here since the 80's.

Spot on.
I never wear colours to games. Well dressed the way forward. B) Just look kinda daft al clad up with your clubs merchandse all over you, away pubs sometimes dont let you in with colours on anyway.
