Title: Day Jobs?
Tom - Leigh RMI - June 4, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)
What does everyone do for a living on here?
I'm currently in my first year at Wigan *spit* college I'm studying Business and look set to pass this first year course and I can go onto the 2 year course in September!
Outside of college I'm a rugby league referee. Not sure if anyone on here is well up on RL but its a tough sport for playing and also refereeing and I think our referee's are alot better than football ones (Rooney wouldn't last five minutes on my pitch with the abuse he comes out with!) :D
Standupandsing - June 4, 2007 01:22 PM (GMT)
Currently doing A level's at a College in Leicestershire. (Too Crap to name!)

Its a great sport but i have to say although i have to say its great on the salford terraces being able to walk about and have a pint, paying on the gate is good too.

yeah, the worrying thing is, there's so many pubescents on here it looks like the over 21's couldn't care less :(
Blues Brother CFC - June 7, 2007 12:11 PM (GMT)
I "work" in IT, although the reality is I just sit there pretending I know what i'm on about, and surfing the net. God, I need to win the lottery.
Ronnie, how easy was it to find work in the US? Did you find someone to sponsor you and sort you out a visa, or did your company have offices in the US and just transfer you? I'm hoping to move over there in a couple of years, preferably San Francisco. This country is doing my head in. It looks like a mission to get a green card without having relatives over there.
Standupandsing - June 7, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
San Fransisco, Is still in my opinon, the best city in the world!
What A place!

It's wierd that. I can't understand how a lot of the older generation don't care and in a lot of cases LIKE modern football. Surely the younger generation who didn't know what it used to be like would be moulded into this new fan and just enjoy being "entertained". I guess it's more due to the fact the young uns want to experience what football supporting used to be like and the older uns have experienced it now they just want sit down and watch the game...
Kukev31 - June 9, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
I think as well, when you get older, you get less rowdy, and are more happy to just sit and watch the game.

The firm I work for have offices here in the US (and europe), they offered the slot and no-one wanted it so I took it, I would never usually do something like pack up and move but I saw it as a chance of a life time and I'm glad I took it, it made me grow up lol. Better money helped as well, plus I literally spend all day just looking on ebay and this forum lol, I really have nothing to do its great.
I have spent time in chicago, pittsburgh and now houston. I had no problem obtaining a visa it was done through work but my girlfriend had major problems she ended up going to university over here.
I understand what you mean, the comparison between the US and england is vast, its like you can't breath in england its hard to explain even though I'm in a massive city I feel free. When I'm in the UK I'm aware of cameras watching you in the street, cameras watching ou when you drive, now the police maybe able to search you for no reason it just seems that england is turning into a communist country or something like...... I did say its hard to explain lol.
I was watching tv the other night it was one of those cop shows and this cop pulled over this car on the freeway and asked permission to search his car and the driver said yes and they found drugs in it, the policeman asked 'why did you let me search your car', he said he thought he had no choice the cop said 'yeah you did, you could have said no and you'd be on your way'. Not sure if that rule applies to every state in the US but shows you how much more freedom people have over here.
I'm not saying the freedom over here is totally a good thing, the fact you can buy a gun and bullets at the local mall at 18 years old still seems scarey to me even after all these years.

I'm in Uni in Swansea doing Criminology and Social Policy, just finished the first year, and cleaning (well sitting in my cupboard doing nothing) 6 hours a day for the summer.
I'm 19 years old and I used to be a football ref, till the abuse got so bad, and I packed it in. I always respect the ref now, as he has an unbelievabley difficult job.
On the weekends I like to countdown until the season kicks off.
It is interesting that most of the people on here are around 20. You'd have to say its a positive thing. Hopefully 60 years of campaining, if it takes that long.
