Title: Frankfurt
Description: Tickets for next season
Standupandsing - March 29, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)
I'm looking to go on a trip to frankfurt next year to watch a game..I've found out basic infomation of the city etc but I can't find much to do with the team and anything in English where I can buy tickets from.
Any help MUCH appreicated! :)

http://eintracht.de/aktuelles/about_eintracht/"basic" information - not that interesting in my opinion...
I'm not familiar with the way tickets are sold in Frankfurt but I found a form which you may use to apply for tickets. It's completely in German and seems to be for this season only:
http://eintracht.de/media/tickets/pdf/best...ular_tk0607.pdfHere's a general overview on ticket-prices and an enlarged overview of the areas at the ground:
http://eintracht.de/tickets/tageskarten/http://eintracht.de/media/tickets/stadionp...nplan_gross.jpgSome pictures and videos of the fans - probably the best home-crowd in Germany at the moment:
http://www.stadionwelt.de/neu/sw_fans/foto...iga_26/170m.jpghttp://www.stadionwelt.de/neu/sw_fans/foto...a_cup_1/140.jpghttp://www.stadionwelt.de/neu/sw_fans/foto...ga_1/180_dl.jpghttp://www.stadionwelt.de/neu/sw_fans/foto...liga_16/120.jpghttp://www.stadionwelt.de/neu/sw_fans/foto...liga_16/160.jpghttp://youtube.com/watch?v=JHas38WdhP0http://youtube.com/watch?v=9iS97D0RkkoEintracht is currently - like more than the half of all clubs - in a hard fight against relegation so it is doubtful that they'll play in the highest league in the next year. If you have further questions or need help getting tickets, feel free to ask :)

Thanks for the help Simme :)
We'd seen some of the youtube video's and saw how good it looks so with our boycott of home games from next year were planning this trip.
I understand their rivals are Mainz and Offenbach so these are probably the games in which I can expect the best atmosphere?
I think I've figured that its the Kurve West where the vocal fans are....any chance you can find out which blocks?
Luckily I have relatives from Germany so I should be alright once I've found the basics of how to buy tickets!
Again,
cheers

Haha yes, Offenbach... overrated :)
Frankfurt and them met in the cup this year but Offenbach plays in the 2nd league and the won't be promoted so there won't be a regular match next season. Mainz is quite ok. Furthermore Kaiserslautern should be a good choice, if they get promoted...
But nearly all clubs in Germany are able to fill the away-area and should therefore be able to create atmosphere as well. I'd wait for the announcement of the fixture list which will be someday during the summer-break and choose then, if possible.
I think the ultras use to be directly behind the goal, lower tier. So the blocks 38 and 40 should be the core of support. Nevertheless the whole lower tier and the middle part of the upper tier should be nice as well.
chalky - March 31, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)
I was talking to my mates today about organising a trip to Frankfurt for next season. I think it would be a good idea to get a group of SUSD members to go at the same time. We would have a great time and it would be good for our campaign if we build up personal relationships with one another...what do you think?
NihilBaxter - April 3, 2007 06:04 PM (GMT)
As simme said, the whole lower tie of "Kurve West" is the standing area(42A to 36B) and it's almost sold out by season tickets. There is just a small amount of tickets in public sale for these blocks. Needless to say that these tickets are immediately sold. However, there will be more tickets in the future because the club will henceworth not be selling any season tickets in these areas, in order to supply more (low-prized) tickets in public sale. The complete "Kurve West" is the home area and if you come to Frankfurt I recommend it. You'll also find a decent atmosphere in the neighbouring blocks on the "Gegentribüne".
Tickets can be bought online
here, but as I said before, the tickets for the standing area are sold very rapidly. It shouldn't be a problem to get tickets for games against teams like Wolfsburg, Hannover, Cottbus for the upper/middle tie of Kurve West. Games against Bayern, Bremen, Schalke, Mainz are completely sold out within hours.
You should check out the fixtures for next season during summer break, hopefully Eintracht stays in the Bundesliga. ;)
Just ask me if you have further questions!

Welcome to the forum Nihil. I've been in the Frankfurt Ostkurve, albeit for the England - Paraguay game over the world cup. It's most strange walking through a forest to get to the ground, and then looking out over the city from the top of the stadium.
Great though German grounds are, there are two things I don't understand,
First given standing areas are obviously so popular why aren't they made bigger? Aachen is great with 80% standing but most of the grounds it seems difficult to get tickets, even if seats are easy to come by.
Second, why are there those big net things behind the goals, it was alright from the top but if you are down at the front they would really get in your way, I'd have thought.
Tanzo - April 3, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
Went to Frankfurt for the Newcastle game, and their Ultras were very noisy :o
Newcastle were very quiet, but at the same time, it seemed very bare and the noise did travel well around our section to get any singing going.

Well we tend to throw everything we get in our hands ;-)
And I don't think they disturb or spoil the view that much, you get used to that fast and isn't that bad.
@NihilBaxter: Hab ich das jetzt richtig verstanden? Frankfurt verkauft bald gar keine Stehplatzdauerkarten mehr?

Well, that's why the stadium is called Waldstadion. :D (Wald, german for forest).
Before the rebuilding of the stadium, there was a total amount of about 30.000 tickets for the standing area. But due to economical reasons and some regulations by the FIFA for the World Cup, they were reduced. But that's a common development in (almost) all of the new grounds. That's why the older grounds like Aachen, Essen, Offenbach have a major percentage of standing areas in their grounds. Aachen had to play their UEFA-Cup games in Cologne three years ago because of the low standard of their stadium.
@simme

Do you two know when the Fixtures will be released..?
What are the chances of getting a ticket in the away end for a frankfurt game as well?
unibee - April 5, 2007 11:40 AM (GMT)
Following on from the last question, what is the situation with away tickets in Germany. Do you have to be a club member or suchlike to get them or can anyone. I wonder if one way to get standing tickets in the big grounds is to become a Cottbus fan for the day :)

| I wonder if one way to get standing tickets in the big grounds is to become a Cottbus fan for the day :) |
That might be a possible solution, yes. Nearly all clubs in the Bundesliga are able to fill the standing-sections in most grounds but especially Cottbus and Wolfsburg (sometimes also Berlin, Leverkusen, Bielefeld) often fail in doing so. As you might have guessed - it also depends on the size of the away-area.
Just to give you a short overview:
Cottbus in Dortmund Wolfsburg in Dortmund (the larger left part of the area is nearly empty)Wolfsburg in FrankfurtDon't know exactly about situation at other clubs but for Dortmund's away games a special amount of tickets is sold to members first and in the regular sale it is very hard to get tickets for the standing section. But it is just that hard because of Dortmund's large number of away-travellers. These numbers are also very high at most of the "big" clubs in Germany.
I checked out Wolfsburg's ticket-page and they sell away-tickets directly at their ticketcenter so I don't know whether you can call there and get one by mail. More likely they send tickets they can't sell back to the home-club which sells them on match-day at the ground . . .
Standupandsing - April 5, 2007 10:20 PM (GMT)
What about frankfurt away tickets pal ?
NihilBaxter - April 8, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
Yesterday, Cottbus wasn't able to fill half of the standing area in Frankfurt. There were about 1000-1500 supporters of Cottbus. And maybe 15 of them in the sitting area. ;)
If the allocation is not fully sold, the tickets are sent back to Frankfurt and are sold directly at the stadium some hours before the match. But as simme said correctly, most of the clubs are able to fill at least the standing area.(except Cottbus, Wolfsburg, Bielefeld, Leverkusen). But if we relegate, the chances of getting tickets for the away end will improve.
The away tickets for our fans are sold online and except for the game in Cottbus, which was dated on a Tuesday evening, the tickets for the standing area were always sold out. For example, I ordered 5 tickets for the game in Dortmund(will be in two weeks) in early January and I didn't get a single ticket.
But the chances of tickets in the away end in the 2.Bundesliga are much higher, even for World Cup grounds as Cologne, Kaiserslautern and Munich.
Standupandsing - April 9, 2007 10:04 AM (GMT)
So theres not much chance of getting a ticket in the frankfurt away end at any ground?
NihilBaxter - April 13, 2007 12:46 PM (GMT)
Chances of getting tickets for home games are much higher than those for away games. But of course it always depends on opponent and of the game. As frequently said, wait for the basic fixtures for next season!
But the chances may improve because relegation comes nearer and nearer. Our Coach Funkel has just suspended our best player for tomorrow's match against Bielefeld. If we lose that game, I doubt that we will manage to stay in the Bundesliga. There will be some great local matches against Kaiserslautern, Wehen, Koblenz, Offenbach, Hoffenheim, Cologne and maybe Mainz... Will definitely be a very interesting season :D
However, the atmosphere in the 2.Bundesliga in the Waldstadion was always better than in the Bundesliga. So don't hesitate to come to Frankfurt, even in the 2.Bundesliga.

NihilBaxter - May 8, 2007 07:26 PM (GMT)
The first convincing game for months. The score should've been 8:0 or 9:0. We hit the post and the crossbar for six(!) times. Thus, the atmosphere was among the best of the season. Now four points ahead of Aachen with two games to go. Not the worst situation for us. Aachen with a disastrous performance, they might have problems avoiding relegation in the 2.Bundesliga next year, which will almost be a kind of a 1.Bundesliga with the likes of Cologne, Mönchengladbach, Mainz, Kaiserslauten, 1860, St.Pauli, Freiburg etc.

And Erzgebirge Aue. I had to look that one up. SpVgg Greuther Furth are a good name too, what does the SpVgg stand for, is it Sporting Verein something?
Aachen play Wolfsburg on Saturday so it could all come down to the last day, mind with recent form Wolfsburg will probably win about 6-0 :(
NihilBaxter - May 8, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
SpVgg stands for "Spielvereinigung". Vereinigung(=association, or in this case union).
Fürth still got very good chances for promoting into the Bundesliga. Karlsruhe is already through but there are still two teams missing. Rostock(56pts), Duisburg, Freiburg, Fürth(all 54pts) and finally Kaiserslautern(51pts). Last weekend, all of these teams lost their games at home except Kaiserslautern, who only drawed against already relegated Braunschweig. Seems that these teams don't want to promote at all. Will be some exciting 180 minutes at the top and the bottom.
I don't think Aachen will make it, their performance during the last weeks and especially last weekend was just too bad. But it's football...

What an afternoon on day 33. All nine games played simultaneously and some crucial and deciding results. The best news: Frankfurt won sensationally 2:1 in Bremen, who lost all their chances for the championship. Frankfurt finally secured their place in next year's Bundesliga. :D :D :D
Meanwhile, Aachen and Mainz will play in the 2.Bundesliga next year.
Schalke lost the derby against Dortmund and once again seem to fail. Stuttgart won 3:2 in a dramatic match in Bochum and just need to win next week against Cottbus to get the "Meisterschale".

Whey, im going to Frankfurt know then :D Sad to see Aachen go down espcially after their great start to the season.
Heres the complete table.I want Kaiserslautern to get promoted so there is a local derby next season after Mainz went down!
NihilBaxter - May 14, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
Fürth and Kaiserslautern lost their chances. Now , it's only Rostock, Duisburg and Freiburg for the last two tickets. Rostock is still two points ahead and will face a difficult task against Unterhaching, who need to win to avoid relegation.
From my regional point of view, I hoped that Fürth and K'lautern would have made it through, now at least I hope Rostock won't make it. After the relegation of Mainz, Gladbach and Aachen, there aren't that much teams around Frankfurt in the Bundesliga anymore. In fact, Karlsruhe will be the shortest trip next season with about 140km.
This may improve your chances for away tickets either in the Frankfurt end or at the Waldstadion. Especially for the games against Cottbus, Berlin and Rostock. These three and probably Bielefeld, Wolfsburg and maybe Freiburg, Duisburg, Hannover won't be able to fill the away end in Frankfurt.

I know, I just wanted to show some alternatives getting inside the ground. As simme said, the basic fixtures will be released in June/July. The exaxt date of the game (friday, saturday or sunday) will be published by the DFL just some weeks before the match. If you are going to plan a trip to Germany for next season at an early stage and the exact fixtures are not released yet, make sure to book the whole weekend. Just in case...

If Stuttgart wins next week the 14th May 2007 will always be remembered by all fans in the area as the day Schalke came with high expectations, wanting to humiliate Dortmund by walking through the town, winning the trophy in our ground and walking back over the streets. But the higher the expectations are the worse will be the fall in case of failure. Immense gratification for everyone to see them crying and walking away as fast as possible again. Felt as if we had won the trophy. Definitely a date to remember, putting a smile on every Dortmund fan.

At the match you could see some smaller fights in the seated areas which were quickly solved by stewards. Especially as the blues did their "stand up if you're schalker" (like your "stand up - if you love xy") many people had their "coming-out" and some were rewarded for buying tickets in these areas later.
100 Schalke fans chasing BVB-Fans who had to get to their cars on the parking early after the match. As the police arrived, their fled over the B1 (some kind of highway). Several smaller clashes around the ground e.g. ~40 Schalke fans trying to get to the south, some fast punches and then chased back by ~20 black and yellow guys until they were in the tram. Although I reject violence, a funny situation. Some tricky situation at smaller stations in the whole ruhr-area but major violence didn't occur. No time for fights, we had something to celebrate :)
Overall 70 fans arrested, 48 detained. Far more than 1,000 police guys there, including two helicopters watching every step of larger groups.

| Why do the DFB move the games to friday/sunday? |
Which games are played on Friday and Sunday is a decision made against the background of the contracts with the TV-stations.
The Friday game is often a "top-match" and always exclusively broadcasted by Arena, which is Pay-TV.
The Saturday matches are also shown live on Arena but there are Free-TV reports in the "Sportschau" in the early evening, at 6.30 pm.
Matchreports of the Sunday matches are shown on Arena and at 10pm on DSF exclusively thus they want nice and interesting matches to take place on Sundays.
DFL is very strange in announcing the exact kick-off days. So Nihil is right, make sure to book the whole weekend which will also provide you the opportunity to see two or maybe even three matches.
