Wait till you see what Jake Melampy (author of the A10, F15, F16 books) has in the lineup - two ginormous Phantom books...

A shipment of Reid Air's Modern F-4 Guide (also Viper Story Pt.2 and other re-stocked titles) are due here sometime this month - probably 3rd or 4th week.

Jake's F-4 book focuses on the various Air Force versions of the F-4.

If anybody wants one, please place your order with pemlow of Hobby HQ.

As for the new Daco book, I suppose it can be treated as a complement to Jake's book, since it covers only the various Navy versions.

I received news from Daco a couple days ago, and am doing some mental calculations to see how many can be afforded, or brought in.

Again, it'll be helpful if the community gives a hint of their interest, since it's more economical for everyone to make a large one-time order.

Many thanks.

Yay, the modern F4 guide is landing.

Jake's F4 series is a two parter. Episode 2... oops... Part 2 covers the Navy birds.

If I recall, Reid Air doesn't provide line drawings whereas Daco does which ought to serve detailers well. Should complement each other much like their F-16 books does.

One more thing:

At a glance I believe F-4DableModels will be able to bring the Daco F-4 book in to MY for a price, comparable to Daco's stated RRP of EUR 34.75

Local modellers should at least be able to save on shipping, compared to mail ordering it in.

Okay Daco-ay.

Line me up for a Daco then.

Why are modelling book publishers belatedly paying attention to the F-4 Phantom II even with numerous books on the subject floating around?

The answer is because there isn't any 'present day' standard (e.g., with full colour, sharp detail shots) walkaround type of book which today's modellers have been asking for.

Practically all the F-4 detail books such as the Detail & Scale and Aerofax series, date back to the 1980's and early 1990's and are mostly in black and white.
