Title: Home Minister Support!
Description: Modelling won't be the same without them

TigerShark - October 30, 2009 06:03 PM (GMT)
Dear all,
Tonite..well yesterday night I received a very welcome surprise from "THE HM" and I would like to share with forum here. As usual when I returned home yesterday and after all the usual blah blah, I went to the modelling room to wonder what next....I got this very welcome surprise.

The HM have brought and assembled all these just for me!!
What makes me so appreciated them is all these are assembled by herself with the usual "help" from the little sharks. Normally, anything that "DIY", she won't go near it before it is completed assembled. That' the job for TS. :D :D
Can you imagine my surprise & appreciation here? :o
Maybe she is tired of housekeeping the room for me? :D

These're the 2 black colour cabinets that the HM assembled.

Pardon the housekeeping. :P

It's may be a small gesture but now I know that the HM are 99.99% behind me on this!

Please do share your experiences on your HM support here as well.

Regards!
TS. :D  :D

With 99.99 % support buy more!

Poopeh - October 31, 2009 12:41 AM (GMT)
You're one lucky dude. But don't take the support for granted by accumulating a huge stash (like many of us). Or else.. :D

mr b - October 31, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
Nice to see

My HM is also very supportive of my hobby. We are lucky guys to have such understanding OTHER halfs.........kits, space allocation, and all........

Its a two way street in my book.........

Best
Mr B

kay - October 31, 2009 06:23 AM (GMT)
that is a very nice gesture from her Tigershark... :D

xamel1975 - October 31, 2009 02:08 PM (GMT)
My other half have been very supportive about my hobby. She never bought me any tool or kits to show her support but she gave me space for my hobby.

We'll be moving in to our new home hopefully by end of the year. She agreed to have one room dedicated to hobby. We'll call it 'activity room'. My hobbies such as scale model and music will occupy this room as well as her photography interest.

But since her employment ends due to 'globalization move', I'll have to be more prudent about my hobby spending. Just some gesture to show my appreciation for her support.

P/s: She don't make afuss when I bought Fine Molds' Millennium Falcon. That's how supportive my wife towards my hobby.

Dear Multifilla (Mr. Leong) & Poopeh (Chairman),

Dear EngHui (Captain) , Mr. B (Master Y) & Xamel1975 (Harman),

Well, all of your comments are really spots on,bros! It's better that our better halves are supportive to us than against us!! Can you imagine how're we going to focus on our hobby if the HMs keep on nagging against us? Maybe sometimes our model will 'really" fly out the window.

Agreed with you, Mr. B. Its a two way street thingy or just plain give & take...

ps. EngHui & Xamel1975, you both have something in common too! Both your HM are into photography! :D

Regards!
TS. :D  :D

Same with mine. Being supportive all the way but not so sure with my spending habit lately for the model kits. Also with regards of the 'activity room', I'm left with 2 bedrooms as the 3rd room is now stashed with model kits, die-cast cars & action figures.

Faisal :)

Dear Bravo2Zero,
It's nice to hear that you too have a supportive HM.
I think most of the modellers's Hobby/Activity room are basically full of our stashes. We've to come out with a hidden room soon in order to hide our stashes, if not the HM will find out our expenses on the kits! :D

At the moment, I'm in the process of getting proper storages for my stash to keep the room in order especially the boxes. Lucky my little one understand that his 'papa' room is prohibited & with an adult supervision upon entering :D.

Dear Flylice80,
Bro, we got to start from somewhere, right? When I started, the dining table is my hobby activity area. Imagine when come to dining time, all need to shift out, makan then shift back to continue!! :D
Patience & constant negotiation are the key here!!

At least, right now I'm claiming that this hobby makes me spend more time at home. I'm quite outgoing and usually come back home late at night (either work late or hanging around at pubs). That's one good excuse for me to infiltrate to the living room for work space. The HM will be watching TV while I work on my stuffs. :)

rtfoe - November 3, 2009 02:38 AM (GMT)
Tiger!

I get support from my HM too. Mine is in the form of the "Last Bastion of Manhhood" room that my HM has granted me. I can do what ever I want in there though she sometimes comes in and arranges and tidies up the place.

Like you I get container boxes and Ikea shelves. In the early days she used to buy me kits until she found them constipating on the shelves

She's let me display my finished work on the upstairs landing. She even bought me two display cases and helped paint one to match the walls. All my reference material shelves were purchased by HM.

That shows support but with a twist  notice all the storage items that she has contributed...my survival depends on my neatness and tidyness. :P

But then I can't match the number of plants, handbags, shoes she has

Two way street...that's the way it goes.

Richard

flylice80 - November 3, 2009 02:58 AM (GMT)
Ahh... Richard, I fully understand the give-and-take situation. 1 kit for 1 handbag/shoe/god knows what's next.

It's always the enjoyment if the HM admires our work.

I thought I'm the only one here using the dining table as an activity area and had been using it since. LOL just yesterday, I've asked my wife to remove all the plates and kept in the kitchen cabinet as I need the table to start work:D.

Dear Flylice80,
Have to agree with you on this. As long as our outing is getting lesser and lesser, our points with the HM for sure getting higher and higher. :D
So, it's time to infiltrate the living room! Go! Go!, I'll cover you!

Dear Bravo2Zero (Faisal),
In this modelling world...it's actually a very small world, right?
We must just remember not to mix up the soya sauce and the cement!!
