I dont get it... they can just build a replica... but why must mold them in plastic model sprue, and build them like the smaller scale...

It must be that "HOBBY" thing....

just imagine the amount of FUTURE they need to use to cover the whole plane :lol:

Personally, I think it's a hoax!!
Just imagine the amount of $$$ spent?
Just the moulds cost alone, it is more than RM1 million easily!!
And I don't think there is any moulding machine in this world that is big enough to mould it!!

I dont think its a hoax. Its on BBC right?!. Nor is it a real plastic model as we understand it. Probably just a mock up of a giant plastic kit. Maybe fibreglass.

There's a small flickr gallery on the build. According to the description, Gateguards, who builds WWII fighter plane replicas, was commissioned to do the Airfix model for the show.

I remember back in LIMA 2001, a British firm did a quick on the spot built up (smaller scale) of the Typhoon near the hall entrance.
Basically, they put the whole model like we build a plastic model.

I asked BAE and was told this firm specialize in building large knock down model.
Not sure this is the same firm in the BBC video.
