Hi guys,
I'm building my 1st 1/35 tank kit.
I stumble on the rubber tracks.
The track suppose to wrap around the wheels.
But when I try to do so, the tracks seems to be very tight.
I worrry if I apply more force, it might break the wheels of the axle.
Can anybody tell me how do you instsll the rubber tracks?
thanks in advance.
This is a common problem if you are dealing with Vinyl Tracks, especially Tamiya's old kits.
Either you can go with aftermarket tracks, or you can try to stretch the vinyl tracks and try. Other than that, there are not much option you have left. Some say soaking the vinyl tracks in warm-hot water and try to soften the material so that you could stretch it abit easily.... i never tried.
For aftermarket tracks, you can try look for these brands:
Friulmodel (metal tracks, price around RM 150 depends on tanks, but it'll really look impressive and it's workable)
ModelKasten (Plastic workable tracks. Price is high also but quality assured)
AFV Club (plastic tracks at reasonable price, good quality, but might have any for you tank. do a search and see.)
YES!! Hot water worked. I just tried and it really works
Not only was I able lengthen it to wrap around the wheels, it even lengthen enough for me to give it a "slack" track look.
THANKS!!! :D
