cool! :)

Nothing much on the military front. They had some ZTZ99 tanks with digital camo, assortments of missiles, air-defence and radar systems.

On the aircraft front, they showed-off their Flankers (and I believe the Shenyang J-11 Flanker clones), J-10 and some AWACs aircraft.

Other notable items include President Hu Jintao's tricked-out limo with bling-bling rims and PLA's famous high-boots-mini-skirt brigades. (especially the ones in red uniform and white boots! Ooolala ) ^_^

In simple terms > digital camo was born due to the increasing use of digital imaging devises in most if not all modern AFVs and Anti tank launchers ... so this camo is suppose to "confuse" the komputer targeting system.

Not sure of its effectiveness as this paint scheme is just like using a dot matrix printer to print the camo on .. .hehe ... must be one GIANT Printer used ...

hmm the china versio looks like they have very big blocks

Alpha7 - October 2, 2009 06:41 AM (GMT)
I don't think the camo is meant to confuse the target acquisition system. Most of these systems detect heat signatures so camo is not effective. That's why some tanks come with thermal blankets to block of the heat.

Digital camo is a fashion statement. It started on uniforms where the pixelated pattern appears to be more effective in concealing a soldier. I think it's mainly because the boxy patterns can be made more dense and fine compared to the 'blotchy' traditional camo. On vehicles, the camo is effective in urban settings because it blends the tanks silhouette with the buildings. The British used them on their tanks stationed in Berlin during the 70s-80s. I think the Taiwanese army also used them on their tanks stationed near cities.

These days, digital camo are found on everything, whether appropriate or not.

impressive ... even if the PRC's hardware is not there in "quality", but they sure do overwhelmed with the quantity !!

Check this out. I like the colour.. next build?

Red J-10

Alpha7 - October 16, 2009 02:33 AM (GMT)
Is it for real? It was discussed in the Militaryphoto forum and the general view was that it was photoshopped. Look at the radome. There's a tint of red which is a tell tale sign of poor photo touch up.

azlandiver - October 16, 2009 02:58 AM (GMT)
reminds me of the SH-37 Red Viggen ^_^
