Title: Thank You Hhq And Hm

ryoga - September 26, 2009 10:30 AM (GMT)
Managed to locate both shops (HHQ yesterday and dropped by HM today). Had the pleasure of meeting both Mr. Low and Mr. Leong who were very helpful, and prices at both stores are indeed affordable (even better with discounts :D ). I can now finally do the things I loved most since young - model buiding.

Initially I wasn't keen on picking up this hobby again due to the lack of shops in Malaysia (those that do sell the paints and tools priced them too high) but thankfully I found this forum (by accident) when I goggled "working with photo etch parts". In fact, I was lurking here for over a week before I decided to officially register with the forum.

The last time I worked with model kits was 20 years ago. I've decided to rekindle my modelscaling hobby interest again since it really never died out. I started out building model cars, then went to 1/72 & 1/48 scale planes, then motorbikes, Sci-Fi kits and more cars. In fact, my stash (thank God I still have a stash) was relocated to my new place before they had a chance to go missing (I still have most of my unbuilt cars, some planes and all my Sci Fi kits)

I'm now in the midst of setting up a personal workroom with a work table and some showcases arriving next week, and its looking like I may need to get me some new tools all over again. All my old toolsets esp my brushes have long since withered away, and all my Gunze Sanyo, Mr. Colour and Tamiya paints have long since dried out (I had over 400 plus bottles) and hell, even my thinners, some unopened, had evaporated. Its really like starting afresh. I still have my 3 airbrush sets and a Badger 180-1E compressor, last seen action was in 1989 :P

Can't show off any of my previous works as all my completed kits had either been stolen, given away or thrown into a box and stored somewhere at my parent's place (my old room is now officially the guest room).

Current interest - I'm into ship building now, but decided against doing military ships yet since I have never done a ship model before - let alone work with photo etch parts. Bought some simpler kits from Revell brand to practice on for the time being. My main project will be Hasegawa's Soya Antartica Observer First, Second and Third Corp complete with photo etch parts and wooden decks. That will be my challenge

Anyway, that's a little bit abt myself. I hope to contribute more to this forum later. And I think I already know one of the members here - Mr. Engineer

Its nice knowing there are still people interested in buiding their own kits in this day and age - kudos to all
