Hui,
I may be wrong but I think you may have a lost cause there. I haven't heard of any way to straighten warped resin. Never experienced warped resin myself. Vinyls yes but resin? wow......

Hi

Yes, it's possible to straighten warped resin with heat. Unfortunately, some resin has "memory" so it would just re-warp when it cools down again.

As for how much heat, you can bend thin or small resin parts using heat from a hairdryer. Thicker parts might need immersion in hot water. Note that clamps or rubber bands can indent the resin when it's heated and soft.

It might help if we knew what type of part you need to straighten up. There's a better way to deal with a warped and twisted waterline resin ship hull, like Jim Baumann's screw-it-down-to-an-aluminum-plate technique.

I only heard that hot water can use to cure vinyl, never heard it works for resin. Can you show us before-and-after photo to improve my knowledge? I normally soak resin in warm water during the cleaning process.... never see any deforming or softening. Probably not hot enough.

Anyway, please take caution while working with resin. Resin dust and fumes (when subjected to heat) is hazadous to health and may cause cancer if exposed for long term.

Enghui, I think you can try and repair warped resin using hot water. I use it to repair my Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale conversion parts (the thread is here).

What I do is I take boiling hot water, put it in a bowl and dunk the warped parts into it then I took it out, try to reshape it and if I got the shape correct, I give it a cold bath just to ensure it will not go back to its previous shape. I do this a few times until I get the desired angle and each time I tried to use boiling hot water.

Hope this helps. :D
