Title: Never Mail Your Cheques.
Description: wish to share my bitter experience...
Holy P - September 14, 2009 05:00 PM (GMT)
Dear bro and sis,
I just had this bad experience and hope that this will not happen to anyone one of you:
I sent 3 cheques by mail to the banks to for the credit card payment, these cheques were intercepted by someone, chemically washed away the whatever written in pen by me, changed the payable's name and value both in figures and words. My account bank cleared them all and I had just lost RM9,295.66 like that.
How foolish I was, even I had read such news before, never thought that such incident could happen to me. Police report is made, complaint to the bank and demanding back my money have been done, but they kept saying they can't be sure when I can ( or can't) get my money back, real frustrated.
If any of you still practising what I did for your credit card payment or any bills through mailing of cheque, or even mailing cheques to your parents, I strongly advice you to stop it now.
Take care... there is just something wrong with the system we have.
Now I need to go back working on my models for an unwind...

Me too
Cheques.........always for c.c............need to find alternative methods..........
Banks should have a different type of paper for their cheque books..........then......
Thanks for the headsup...........!
Best

Sorry to hear about your misadventure. I hope your case can be settled quickly. Shouldn't be that difficult for the police to investigate since they can trace the cheque number.

The magazine case, I think its the Kastam who opened it to check whether you are importing dirty magazines. But they should have a notice stick on the envelope saying that they have opened it.
When I was back from Pakistan (to me, one of the worst place to be on earth), I mailed a whole bunch of my personal stuffs (clothings, books, etc) back to KL. There are 2 nicely sealed boxes I mailed, 1 got missing. The other one was delivered to my house like 3 months later. They opened up the box to check everything, then they simply throw my stuffs into a guni bag and deliver to my house. Don't know whether the Kastam or Post office ppl doing this.
Holy P, I hope they take your case seriously and pay back your losses.
I don't pay my CC with mail or online. I always pay thru the cash deposit machine (if amount is small..... I don't like carrying alot of cash around), or I pay to the counter.
