flylice80 - September 15, 2009 06:09 AM (GMT)
Well.... there was once alot of Chinese modern ships model kits floating around in the market.
What else they could make? Virgo Starcruise?
A Salvage Platform Crane would be a good subject for modelling. Imagine the extensive amount of PE parts to make it look realistic.
landyshah - September 15, 2009 06:29 AM (GMT)
I think there is absolutely tons of subject matter possible for big scale ( >1/144) ships.....military and civilian subjects like destroyers, subs, torpedo boats, tugs, ferries, fire boats, launches etc.
Whatever out there now is old mouldings. The only recent ones are the 1/35 Eboat and Revell Fletcher. The rest are mostly 70's and 80's moulds. Some Revell even comes from the 60s.
BTW, I actually bought 4 of those chinese navy ships, and built one. They are junk.
Good, up to date and high quality kits are rare in these scales. Its not going to change.
Silantra - September 15, 2009 09:06 AM (GMT)
too add to some of us misery, another ship Prinze Eugen which announced in the first reply, is also coming out...
Prince Eugenand another heavy cruiser
1/350 Admiral Hippernow a few more 1/350 Scharnhorst and Gneisenau class will complete the entire german battleships...huhuhuh
i agreed with most of us.... but like AFVs too, they are so many tiger and panthers out there from the 50s mold to the recent one.... British tanks are not that popular even though everytime there was a poll in any forum asking what plastic kit we expect and i keep on putting those british vehicle , but the manufacturer keep on doing the same vehicle and variants all over again.... the same goes with all other subject....how many F-4 are there in the market?? F-16?? F-14?
ship are quite ok la sikit because we dont see 20-30 diff version of 1/350 bismarck ehh? so far only 3 good one........
my 2 sen duit raya!
landyshah - September 15, 2009 09:49 AM (GMT)
Kan dah cakap.....predictable.....yet more german ship on top of the Jap ship.....
LOL Old topic la bro lol......dah kering air liur to rant on this...but nice to lepas geram once in a way...here we gooooo
Wah, more german cruiser.....im so so surprised....oh wait, got another jap carrier coming oso hiryu soryu kayu........Endless zzzzzzzzzzzzz yawnnn sleeeppp
You're right, ships are different in a way from plane and AFV, cos the versions are few...just maybe some changes over the years...which can be mostly scratchbuilt anyway. Thats why I feel new subjects is what is relevant for ships, not versions.
I dont really care if the Academy version is better than the Tamiya or whatever..so what? How much worse can it be? Do we really need the "perfect" release?
Aiya, you gotta love how the manufacturer play us :D And we all go running like ayam cos new version out must buy bla bla....but its demand supply...they will make what the masses want...and the masses want another F16...habis citer....its like fast food...
Basically the choice for a modeller wanting something different is go for resin etc...but the $$$$$$ makes it ridiculous....
OH LOOK!! Another new version of F16 Fighting Phantom Eagle Hornet!!!!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Frankly, I dont feel like buying anything out there rite now....sale or not, bosan.
But all this is irrelevant, the choice is in my hands. Its a free world.
Then again, GIMME THE 1/24 MOSSIE LA AIRFIX!!! FASTERRRR!!!

Flylice80, Xamel1975 and me (plus a few other friends) actually scratchbuilt one of those, well, not the salvage platform crane but similar. We also scratchbuilt a sand dredger which is bigger than that and has an arm that can submerge underwater with a very big drill head to drill through the seabed.
Oh yeah... all these were in 1/72 scale... :D

landyshah - September 17, 2009 01:39 AM (GMT)
Mejar, perfect ship scale bagi aku:
1/144 : destroyer size - Revell now has fletcher class only
1/72: corvette, submarine, fast attack craft size. Airfix started this long ago with
E boat, Vosper etc. Follow by Tamiya and Revell..but nowadays slowed down again :(
I think these are very nice scale for small ships.....average size would be a bout 0.5-1 metre length. Beautiful and impressive to display
Battleship in 1/144 tak logik la hahaha....need a swimming pool!!
emechelmi - September 17, 2009 07:05 AM (GMT)
few new warship kits,
I hope the manufacturer will turn to produce more British ships.
It's quite ironic, that the once world's strongest naval power is weakly represented in model kits.
gimme more WW1 battleships, especially those fighting at Jutland.

A 1/350 scale HMS Warspite, HMS Malaya, the R class battleships, the QE class battleships.....meleleh air liur.....
What about 1/350 scale British aircraft carriers.....Illustrious class, Ark Royal, etc...
1/144 scale Tribal class destroyers....ha howzat!
I can dream right.....
hashaney - September 17, 2009 01:03 PM (GMT)
Shah, couldn't agreed more.... :D
me stick to 1/350 modern Naval subject is suffice enough... No WW1 or WW2, must maintain status quo at the moment, otherwise....
