xamel1975 - September 10, 2009 01:25 AM (GMT)
HobbyBoss will release a 1/48 Tornado IDS in October. What got me startled is the hefty price tag. Almost RM 350  ! I sure hope the kit is worth the price...
HLJ linkHobbyBoss linkI wonder if it comes with MW-1 or JP233 mine dispenser.

For that price they should give us complete colour PE, mask, white metal engine cans, seamless intakes, resin cockpit, 2 pilot figures in various poses, plus all the trolleys, ladders and stores etc. 1000lbs, Paveways, AIM9, ALARM ARM, AGM84s ASM, Sea Eagle ASM and including a vacform hardened shelter........ooops!!!! (thats my wishlist....)
On a serious note, maybe the price will be half of that when LHS bring it to Malaysia (i can dream, what!)
Now, lets see the links...(for a reality check)

I think their prices will be reviewd once the item hits the market..........same with their Mig 17 and Thunderchief.........both were no where close to the SRP
Best

Since HLJ is taking pre-orders, the early birds will be sure to loose a feather or two if the prices gets reviewed for the better...

Absolutely. The most important part to make it worth that price tag is the colored PE control panel and complete PE set for the ejection seat. Or else I could get Academy's 1/32 scale and top up alittle for Eduard PE sets.

We have to understand that while Hobby Boss's indicative retail prices seem to be pretty high compared to even Hasegawa, it will definitely differ from country to country.
You guys are looking at HLJ's pre-order price, but imported model kits in Japan are very expensive.
Just take a look at how much Revell Germany stuff costs in Japan vs. what Hobby HQ or non-Japan webstore charge.

its true jason,
HLJ are japan hobby company base in japan
tamiya n hasegawa are cheaper because its japanese
other brands are very very expensive, once i tried
to ask price tag for trumpeter truck from local hobby store
who order from HLJ the price is double than MH or HHQ
in that case the hobbyboss tornado IDS will not cost more
than rm250 if buying from local hobby store
