Title: Two B Or Not Two B?
Description: F-2A n F-2B

enghui - August 20, 2009 01:22 AM (GMT)
Ahhh that immortal question "To be or not to be?"
Well Hasegawa's answer comes in a double kit box set so you can build the Misubishi F-2A and F-2B Special Paint 2006 in 1/72.
the F-2A features a shark mouth and the F-2B a samurai.
This build will be mostly OOB.
Cockpit painted up with nose weight added.
more will follow.

enghui

Nice choices Enghui, will follow this build closely. Are you sure the F-2 needs nose weight?

TigerShark - August 20, 2009 03:23 AM (GMT)

EngHui,
Italian pilots????

landyshah - August 20, 2009 03:43 AM (GMT)
Captain Hamlet,

This is the question: F2 = Japanese F16? So it can go into the Viper Gb la..?

Like your nose weight, for a moment I thot it was the wiring details

BTW you should build more WW2 and 50s RAF...theres more than enough supply of all these anonymous modern jets laaa :D

Bro Aidy, i follow Hase's instructions they say need to put 5grams.Hopefully the solder wire should be enuf. ^_^

Bro Larrance, I folo your advice, Modelling is a Journey not a destination.

Bro Loo, italian pilots? spaghetti u mean?

Bro Landy, ya its VGB entry.I know these modern stuff Berlambak laaa, but watodo sometimes must go with da flow, but that Spitfire is begging to be built man not to mention the Seafire.

Preshading with thin flat black.
user posted image

Sprayed on a thin mixture of the base coat.Need to let some of the preshading show through.
user posted image

Next added ratio 1:1 white base to base color to lighten it, sprayed on as a thin mixture, letting slight hint of the preshading show through
user posted image

Painted on the top camo freehand. Its Navy Blue but it seemed a bit too black to my liking, added some base color to it Intermediate blue ratio 2Inter:3Navy.
Still looks very black.

Both planes camo painted.More touch ups and some lightening to come to create more layers.

Thanks twong, preshading is fun and very forgiving.Just shade where you think the shadow/stain/discoloration would be.

Thanks kuman, da wire is solder wire ,easy to bend, heavy and one roll lasts forever.

Thanks Larrance, as you always show us enthusiasm is the key.

Thanks Sarjana, looking forward to your project menyelam disiapkan.Jangan hanya letakan ditilam.

some progress,
Exhaust parts painted, gunze Silver is the silver and the steel color part is gunze silver shaded with thin semi gloss black.

:P

so the silver is the ring only right and the silver shaded is for the inside correct?

:D

kuman

enghui - August 28, 2009 02:33 PM (GMT)
kuman, the entire metallic part was sprayed silver. Then the ring was masked, then thin semi gloss black was sprayed to shade the unmasked area. After all that I sprayed some silver on the turbine cone because some highlight there would make it look more realistic.
hopefully this is clear, if not please ask me :)

enghui - September 9, 2009 07:51 AM (GMT)
The kits come with close petal exhaust nozzles.I "borrowed" 2 open nozzles from a Hase 1/72 Tomcat F-14B.With very slight shaving on the inner ring it fits like a glove! This makes life a lot easier. The open petals are more work to get looking right but they are much more visually appealing. Also the pitot probe replacement using brass rod and streached cotton but sprue.
user posted image

Nozzles painted flat black and masked. If I would do it again would have painted gloss black instead. The flat black was a little too rough.
user posted image

Gloss black was applied before the mettalic coat but the pigment was a little bit rough.Later the silver finish was shaded with clear yellow to make it look closer to the color or the real nozzles.

canopies polished and masked.Decals done too.

Nice one man, superb quality. ^_^

enghui - September 9, 2009 11:51 PM (GMT)
Thanks guys , I appreciate your kind words. Most of the work was done by Hasegawa ,immaculate fit, stunning decals(if a little yellow) ,great accuracy and beautiful detail.

Your Emminence Landy, the japanese sure know how to decorate their aircraft.Still waiting for da 1/24 F-2B ar?

MrB ,Thanks very much. we try to learn from the best, namely from people like you and others on the forum.

By the way did I mention I cracked 2 canopies during polishing and had to order for spares?Anyways gear is painted, all that remains is a panel line wash, flat coat and to build and paint the seats. And the tiny details.

best regards,
enghui

well the exhaust nozzles look too rough to me, so I redid them.

Gloss black was now the undercoat instead of matt.
