Title: Hobbyboss 1/72 Lynx
aidy - August 19, 2009 02:54 AM (GMT)
Well, thanks to the current bug making its round, school holidays have come early for me! :D And that means more build time!
So I picked up this kit last week and started test fitting parts. It is a lovely kit, much better than the old Airfix one, but I don't know whether or not it is more accurate.
This will be a TLDM build, so I have started with the external mods needed to be done. I want this to be a quick-ish build, so I'll only do the most obvious changes to the kit. Cockpit and cabin will be OOB. Sorry for the lack of before pics, only got the camera to work last night.
First up is the intakes. Apparently, Malaysia is a dust-free country, so our Navy decided to dispense with the intake filters everyone else is using. I just whacked on a lump of bondite then drilled and carved out the intakes to look more or less like those on our Lynx 300s.

Also added this 'thing' on the left fuselage half. The squarish part is bondite, the dome is a reshaped 1/48 Maverick seeker.

Lastly, I decided to beef up the radome with some bondite as it looks far too anemic as is. Modified the FLIR thing too, but am leaning towards the sleeker nose without the FLIR thing.

'
Need to do some touch-ups on the intakes still, but hope to get the fuselage closed by tomorrow.

Progress report!
Interior painted with whatever grey was closest to me, which happened to be Tamiya neutral grey. Seat cushions are Gunze 302, I think. It's not meant to be accurate, just as long as it's coloured.

And the instrument panel. Hobbyboss provides one with detail and one flat should you want to use decals or PE (neither of which is provided, by the way). The panel is painted Tamiya NATO black, buttons picked out in agressor grey and dials painted with Payne's grey oils.

Fuselage finally closed up this morning too.

I also decided not to use the FLIR and just go with this nose as it looks nicer.

The intakes have been retouched, needing one last go over with sandpaper.

Next up will be the tedious task of filling and sanding. Doesn't look like too much will be needed though, as fit is good all round. Hope to get this painted by Sunday and finished soon as I'm itching to move on to my Barak next.

Construction almost done.

Got up early for sahur today and attached most of the antennas on the underside and the tail boom. Whatever is not there yet will not be added as I'm about ready to paint this one already.

Next up, a trip to HHQ for some paint and off to painting!

Great build. Just one question TLDM Lynx ada dua hidungkah? Two type of nose, one with FLIR or something and one is closed?
About the Sea skua - sudah jatuh ke laut.
