The review around that net said that this is not accurate kit, But I don't care and I am going for a quick build...
Progress so far..
Cockpit painted black..

Sub assembly done

Next remove seam lines and join those sub assembly together..

Excellent man! Love the serial number FATT FATT FATT :D

Good one, Thomas. My dad was a civilian Meteorological Observer with the RAAF in Butterworth and they were flying Vampires back in the 50's and perhaps early 60's. I just asked him where RAF Tengah is and he sez it's in Singapore. That correct? He has seen Spits and Beaufighters. The Vampire was the first jet to be sent to Butterworth. By the time I was old enough to take notice French Mirages with Australian markings were in service. The Vamp's a good choice for Merdeka and when you post pics of the completed model I bet he'll be intersted to have a look.

No pics of aircraft unfortunately. It's a workplace like any other and they are so used to seeing planes that no one bothered to take photos of them. He does have some taken with the towering kwai loh though. Funny..... :D
I came across a site put up by those who used to serve with the Butterworth base. Corresponded with one of them briefly. They described the Tanjong Tokong stretch as the 'mad mile'. No wonder, as I recall come New Year's or Christmas eve there'd be accidents. Drunk.....Perhaps you can try asking for pics from the site. The nice thing when they were here was that even the local Chinese medicine shop carried model kits! Airfix mostly. One can get no frills fish and chips ( wrapped in brown paper ) in Tanjong Bungah and imported foodstuff were plenty not to mention the dairy truck which made its rounds in my area. Dad smuggled some very biiiig weather baloons out of the base for me and my most treasured item was a jet's oxygen mask. Gone already. What I have left is a squadron coat of arms similar to your avatar. Memories.......

Master
You are a man after my heart.....can't wait to see the Vampire with your usual superskills.
masterqq - August 21, 2009 01:13 AM (GMT)
B and Shamsul, thanks.... no superskills lah, just a quick build saja... :D
anyway...more update..

Major assembly done, the twin tail booms alinement is very tricky, took me some time to do the proper alinement, I hope i get it right.. but somehow still look a bit sengnet to me..
another mod done on the wing, I just found out that the version I wanna do have the chips wing.. so I saw it off and cover with miliput, I should get all the sanding done and start painting on the weekend..

BTW.. it gonna be silver. Scary..
