Fabulous build!
But he got his caption wrong..this is Enterprise-A and not Enterprise Refit. There is a big difference ;)
SAC33 - August 13, 2009 08:15 AM (GMT)
Landy, Aiyah nothing too errorneous ... but the build is fantastico ... only missing the cast & "Borg" ... :P :P :P
Mr. Engineer - August 13, 2009 05:57 PM (GMT)
The Borg and Captain Jean Luc Picard exists in the 24th Century although in Star Trek:Enteprise and Star Trek:First Contact established the Borg to be in the Earth Sector centuries before.
Raytheon's model works because he has the original Polar Lights White Model plastic and so, the lighting was good. The Special Blue plastic edition and the (now) version does not work as the plastic gives off a yellowish tint.
Captain Kirk - August 21, 2009 06:49 AM (GMT)
Very nice indeed. I am trying to do the lighting spots from outside the model, not backlit from inside the model as this one is. Almost figured out the angles of adjustments for the fiber optics.
Mr Engineer, is the circuit board for the formation lights ready to be used? Enterprise needs a new refit for the next generation (again)!
Lock phasers and fire on my command.

Its on its way, Capt'n. Just need to deal with the Bomorian Flu and some parts wont be in 'til Tuesday.

:P Wow .. Mr. Engineer is here too.
Hope to see your 1/350 Enterprise fully built soon. I missed my window for getting one :(

Update:
Just finished getting a quote to build the circuit board. Will wait for October's salary (In 2-3 weeks?) and I'll send it out for manufacture. Bear in mind, this is a flasher circuit for the red/green navigation and white strobe lights. The basic prototype (missing further LEDS) can be seen here:

Hi, ryoga
OK, for those who needs to get the 1/350 scale model, there are three versions:
1) First issue, blue plastic
2) First issue, white plastic
3) Current issue, yellowish plastic (when lighted). This is the version with big decals so you do not need to paint all the aztec panels.
For those who have seen Raytheon's site and wish to follow, you would need the white plastic version because of the lighting trick for the main saucer. This is because in "real" life, the light from the saucer dome (upper and lower) would not create such lighting pattern as seen in the movies. In theory, it can be achieved via mirrors but I have yet to examine mine fully due to course changes int he next few months.

Found stock at Starship modeller but finally decided against buying her for now. Wifey whacked some sense into me head .... where exactly am I going to display this one? :P I don't have a showcase big enough to fit her, nor can I spare any space to make one for her :(
She's just too big, and with all the accessories available (after market), this project may turn out to be too expensive. So decided to focus on another area of interest - Battlestar Galactica :P
Mr. Engineer - October 6, 2009 03:25 PM (GMT)
I have the same problem too but I had a good excuse: Coffee Table.
OH, OK. It might not turn out to be one as this would take years and the electronic designs are killing me.
ryoga - October 6, 2009 04:05 PM (GMT)
HAHA .. yeah, I can relate. At least you found good use for your coffee table, mine just tend to hold the day's newspapers and TV/Astro remote :P
BTW - keep an eye out for Polar Light's latest movie Enterprise. Should have some news end of this year - she's going to be 1/1000 scale though
Mr. Engineer - October 9, 2009 04:41 PM (GMT)
Yes, they have been talked about but we'll just have to wait and see.
ryoga - October 9, 2009 05:08 PM (GMT)
Hoping its soon cause I'm getting this one at 1/1000 scale (can fit my display case :D ). They've released the mock up on how the packaging will look like
Mr. Engineer - October 15, 2009 07:20 AM (GMT)
Update:
OK, there is a slight hitch to the electronics that I am making: My salary's late again.
Anyway, I have a problem as they would require a minimum quantity of ten and I am not sure how many I would need apart from one or two for myself. Anyone interested, you can put your name on the list below before end of October 2009. After that, I will try to hog them off on the Internet.
Brief Description.
The electronics are to flash the red/green navigation lights 1 second on and 1 second off. Then the strobe would come in at every 0.75 seconds. And just for fun, I have included a second strobe which does a double flash at every 0.75 seconds too. All this were done via microprocessor chip to save on space. The electronics will have a total of 14 LEDs and running them off a 9V battery is not a problem.

Mr Chow
I'm in (obviously!) for 2 units (or more - depending on cost!), but you will have to let me know the costs, and will it be a problem to plug into a 9 volt adapter instead of a 9 volt battery (don't want it to accidentally burn out...)
