Hi, I am currently building the Tamiya 1/48th KV-1 with open hatches. However, not sure what is the colour of the interior of a russian tank. Appreciate it if some of you good modellers can advise me.

Thank you.

Cheers!

depends on the period of your KV-1 was builded

before the german invasion its off white...after it was off white for the lucky ones, while the rest are left unpainted in bare steel

Ari,
can you point me to some source references to confirm that please? I have a lot of Russian AFVs to do and would love to get it right.....

sorry boss...cant remember where i read this, its a long time ago, but the same case applies to the Stalingrad T-34, tanks left the factory without a drop of paint .
after 1943 russian tanks were made up to standard after the major factories finally started producing in the Urals..most of these factories are stripped and transported there. so its was those chaos period of retreat that russian armour are hastily builded to replace the huge loses.
so its not standard bos..it could be left unpainted or to be safe you coud do it off white, but for sure i will build an unpainted one..just to tease the experts
