Title: Wip03 - Tugu Negara (dryfit Gears & Weapon)
Description: Dry fitting

cptan - July 31, 2009 02:07 AM (GMT)
OK guys, more update. Dry fitting.

As mentioned in my last WIP02 - Tugu Negara (weapons & Gears), Accessories parts, I'm posting the picts of the gears and weapon dryfit to the figures with blue tag...

THE LEADER:
Original sculpture is very simple with no gear or weapon attach... As seen I want my dio to be a bit more realistic. I mean U don't see soldiers with no weapon and gear in campaign, right? So, since this is the leader holding our "Jalur Gemilang", I presume he's a Malay officer (leftanant I presume??) arm with pistol and a sten sub machine gun. Other gears are also attached on the canvas belt.

THE BREN GUNNER:
Again the original sculpture is quite simple with a backpack and NO ammo pouch attach?? So my version as shown here is loaded with ammo pouch, water bottle, bedroll, machete, etc.... And this guys will be painted later as an Indian comrade.

THE BAYONET CHARGER:
This guy supposed to be a Chinese. The rifle sling will be added later for easy painting. Back view, note the heavy loaded backpack with canvas rolls and ammo pouches....

THE HELPER:
Now this is our AUSSIE comrade who's sculpted helping the other fallen comrade (not in picture)... with his carbine slung over his shoulder... Notice the left arm is not cover with putty yet so it can be "adjust to fit holding the fallen figure.

Lastly, the fallen comrade is currently in the hospital, not able to make it to the photo session :-(

I presume since he's half laying on the jungle ground which make his gear not much visible in the dio too. So no photo taken....

I'm half way building the basic structure of the base.... and schedule will start face painting next week....

That's all, C n C are welcome.

Amazingly super nice CP...doing figures is a form of art I dont know if ill ever learn....and I salute you for choosing this subject...really original, never heard of anyone build Tugu Negara in scale.

Will all of them will be in bronze-black colour like the real thing?

I think CP mentioned in other related thread that this piece will be colored. Not bronze.

Am I right?

What CP is doing is trying to incorporate Malaysian features and feel on this Tugu Negara... more like a 'politically correct' version of Tugu Negara la.

T-minus 30 days to go!

Thanx guys for all your feedback...

xamel1975,
Yes, U're right.... this dio will be painted full colour. But there's no such intention related to any "political" thingy... Just my personal view of Tugu Negara ....

Landy,
You have the modelling GOD's pair of hands lar.... touch anything sure cantik molek punya....I'm eyeing on your figures of your itik.

seelianglim,
Sorry cannot put too much figures into this one tiny dio... Currently with 7 figures (plus 2 communist dead) already crowded on the 6 x 6 inches base liaow... For the "yang Lain-lain" will have to stand as invisible watching crowd lar.

CP,
I have only one comment.
If the vignette is to be in a realistic setting, maybe a soldier holding the Malaysia flag is not so appropriate because I am not so sure they do that in this particular campaign.

Maybe if you plan the vignette with the scenario of a group of soldier near some flagpole holding the Jalur Gemilang, it will look like the soldier is holding the flag in a return fire situation.

Just a thought.

Loo,

Thanx for the valuable feedback. U're right on the flag thing... actually tha's alaso one of the thing that's disturbing my thought since day one started this project. U r right that base on common sense, we don't see soldier holding standard colours (country flag) charging the battle ground in modern battle ground... especially in the jungle, right??!!!

My personal way out of this will be making the dio scene as our jungle fighters successfully raided a communist HQ camp some where in the jungle. The original flag pole was holding the communist flag which was torn down (laid on the ground with the deads, and replace with Jalur Gemilang as a token of victory over the national enemy.

Thanx abang Dremel.
