Help needed!

I'm looking for pictorial reference of our 90s PDRM Highway Pursuit Car, the Volvo 850 T5 Wagon.

I have the Tamiya's Volvo Estate kit which I want to convert into our police car. I vaguely remember that the car has chequered yellow and blue stripe and the POLIS lettering on each side. But I cannot remember the width of the stripe and location of the 'POLIS' lettering. Also, I'm not so sure whether the Volvo sports the PDRM badge.

Any link to reference or pictures from personal collection are highly appreciated.

Looks like it will be a double volvo estate build hehe. I have in my hands this kit as shown below. For this car i have ref but not the malaysia police version. Will try to find some for you ;)

Haaa... you got the BTCC version!

Mine is the standard version. Have been googling for the image and sites but no luck so far. I only found the Swedish (or is it Norway?) version which coincidentally also called their authorities as POLIS.

What I'm looking for:

- Width of the chequered stripe.
- 'POLIS' lettering location.
- Shape of the blinker/revolving lights (same as Waja Patrol Car or different?)
- Antenna locations (if any)
- Rear markings like the Hotline numbers, etc.
- I assume there's a car number on top of the roof.

Looks like photos of PDRM's 850 Wagon is as elusive as Bigfoot or SetapakMan :D. I'll continue my search and share here if I manage to find any.

The S80 looks good. Too bad no kit maker produce the model of it. Did Tamiya lose the license to make Volvo kits?

Thus far, Evo X kit can be made into PDRM's Helang unit.

Bro, I think the scheme should be the same as the Police's Waja, Kancil, and the new Volvo S80. Emblem will be on both sides of the front door and the Polis lettering will be on both sides of the rear door.

Not sure on the emergency numbers and other markisng though...

There's an urban legend about this car. The story was, a couple of street racer were driving a Wiralution III (other story mentioned 200hp MIVEC) on highway. They were chased by this Volvo for speeding.

The police managed to gain on them and as they pass on the racer's side; the police use their speaker and said "Bang, dah habis tekan ke? Kalau dah habis berenti tepi je la. Kitorang baru tekan separuh ni".

Not sure whether the Police is using the T5 GLT or the T5-R. The T5-R is the best Volvo for pursuit with 2.3 litre engine and 250bhp factory standard.

As for the reference picture, nothing can be found on the net and better wait for AzlanD for any news. Too bad that not much Volvo Estates are easily seen used by the Police even back when it is still being used maybe because it is mainly used for the Highway Petrol guys.

The light might be similar with the ones used by the Waja or Perdana Police car.

errr if not mistaken, the highway patrol volvo takde 'invasion' stripe la... i think it's just the POLIS marking on the door and the logo and the words peronda lebuhraya.... i used to see them on the highway in the early 90s.....

sky forced me to tell this story...

i was driving on the MEX Highway from KL to Putrajaya about 2 month ago... time around 3pm and i'm with my family....

I was driving at my normal cruising speed on the center lane and at about 5-6 kilometer to Putrajaya Toll... and when i look into right side mirrors i saw what look like an black evo was driving like hell...the rear mirror told there are some more on my left..a red volvo and splits second later, both the volvo and evo overtook me and then they switch side just in front of me barely a few meters away from my car... dang!!! i noticed it was a black evolution 7 and red volvo s80... both are tinted black! and as they enter the lanes one more impreza join at the back of the volvo.... damn... this was super fast... split seconds.... 3 of them was on the top of their power i guess and then another splti seconds later 3 evolution x from the helang police passed me.... chasing the 3 bad guys...and then follow by 3 or 4 POLIS waja....

suspens and tense... all the police evo are chasing them....and i can hear the engine...

as they all passed me, the bad guys started to zig zig from lane to lane.... all of the other cars on the road cannot do anything....

then my wife told me to slow down and she suspect there are going to be some shooting... depan tu ada toll..so how???


so i just follow with my eyes untill they lost in the horizon.... i still in shocked and suspend ... and when i aproach the plaza toll, i noticed at the left lane of the toll booth, all cars are queing politely to pass/pay the toll including the 3 bad guys... all of them q back to back...

i used my touch n go and as i pass the que, the evo x helang squad dude were all lowered their glass ...i can see how relax they are

so this must be a training..............hmmmmm... suspen siot!!!

You should publish this, really love the way you explained it. I never get tired reading this story again and again. PDRM are badass dudes, dont wanna mess around with them :P

harman.......just talked over the phone with my friend & he said the car is no longer in service even in small town

banyak dah kena lelong & ada yang duduk diam terperuk kat workshop.....he still trying to get the info about the workshop location

Azlan just called me informing that the last remaining T5 have been auctioned off. There's no pictorial record available from his friend in the force :(.

Oh well, maybe I can build the PDRM T5 based on what I can recall :( .
