Title: The Defiant Michael Boulton
Description: 1/72 ponytail
enghui - July 24, 2009 02:40 AM (GMT)
Ok ,Ok theres no pony tail here.Just,
1/72 MPM Boulton Paul Defiant, revoulutionary fighter or blundering disaster?
When first introduced it was very succesfull, the Luftwaffe thought it was a Hurricane. They were shot out of the sky when they approached the Defiant from behind. After they realized what was going on the only attacked it from beneath or the front(it has no forward guns)Then the Defiants fell out of the sky like flies.Subsequently it was used successfully as a night fighter.
The kit, this is the High Tech version with resin parts, PE and acetate flim for the instrument dials.Multiple Vac form canopies ,and an Injection canopy and Injection turret.
The progress so far, fit is quite good, with test fitting this kit goes together very well. You can even build the cockpit after you have closed the fuselage.
Thanks for viewing. ^_^

Guns and seatblet for the turret not painted yet, just for posing atm la.

looking good...any plans to built it with flaps down ? building instrument panels in 72nd scale would require you to have binocular vision...just kidding :D
landyshah - July 24, 2009 03:38 AM (GMT)
Great subject Mr Chew....and lovely work on the pit as usual
Always wished someone would make this bird in 24th scale...oh, sweeeet
Haha, do you know the names of other Boulton Paul aircraft?
enghui - July 24, 2009 04:20 AM (GMT)
Thanks kay, flaps will be up.I dont want to torture myself too much. All pics I ve seen show flaps up, so reference would be tough also.
Thanks landy, yah , too bad no 1/24 scale, I dunno about 1/32 but Classic Airframes make a 1/48.Perhaps you could convert a 1/24 Hurricane lol.I dont know all the Boulton Paul Aircraft please enlighten.
f-4dablemodels - July 24, 2009 04:26 AM (GMT)
Nice work, eng hui.
If landy had his way, he would build it as the target tow version with the yellow & black stripes.
Vaguely remember seeing one somewhere with that scheme.
enghui - July 24, 2009 04:59 AM (GMT)
Thanks Jason, ya landy would love that stripy scheme.
landyshah - July 24, 2009 05:53 AM (GMT)
Ah, how you right you fellas are..imagine this in 1/24: ORGASMIC :P

Built the old Airfix one in 1/72 years ago, in NF black...EH, why not try this stripes on your build :D
Anyway, the most famous BP aircraft were the Sidestrand and Overstrand. They had some interesting names eg Bobolink (i'm serious), Bugle and Balliol
moJimbo - July 24, 2009 01:39 PM (GMT)
michael boulton and bobolink... hmmmm :P
shahrs - July 24, 2009 04:19 PM (GMT)
Been eyeing for this kit for quite sometimes, but the price has put me down.. Seeing the details, it does worth the money.. How many options the decal offers ya enghui??
Another thing, I believe I have some white-metal part (a winch maybe??) for the TT version.. Must get the airfix one for this stripey TT..

dear Landy, not Barbra Streisand again?Anyways salutes to them for imagination.
Yes da color scheme is awesome. But this one will be strictly camo only.
dear jimbo, bobolink, boulton ,berbaloi, berbulu
dear shahrs, 3 decal options, 2 all black , one with camo on the top.And one of the black ones has a shark mouth. The kit I have does not include a winch nor does it have any white metal parts.Yes the stripy one is attactive.

Kaptan,
great old look in the office area. Rich details and good paint job to pop them out. So much more than the Jake!
enghui - July 30, 2009 08:14 AM (GMT)
Jake the Snake?
landyshah - July 30, 2009 08:19 AM (GMT)
I thought it was this Jake?
enghui - July 30, 2009 10:56 AM (GMT)
those are some cool Jakes.I wonder who would win in a showdown.
enghui - August 18, 2009 01:02 PM (GMT)
EWOK s on Endor!
Finally all done.Added photetch ammo belts from eduard and painted using MrColor. The Tail decals are jagged, not damaged, I guess the original photos of the plane show this also.
Wingtip lights were added.Brake lines too, invisable thread was use for the antennas. This wasnt the easist build but it was quite satisfying.
thanks for viewing,
regards,
enghui

ahhow - August 19, 2009 12:22 AM (GMT)
Wow, u can build 1:72 to looks like 1:48
landyshah - August 19, 2009 12:46 AM (GMT)
EH: Like Ah How says, it looks a lot bigger...considering in 1/72 this is tiny like a Spitfire....but you excel at doing that. Superb!
enghui - August 19, 2009 02:06 AM (GMT)
Thanks B Man, the exhaust stain on the port side didnt look right, so I resprayed the base color and redid it, so it wasnt smooth sailing all the way.
Thanks ahhow, a few subjects easier to get in 1/72 than 1/48.But I primarily collect and build 1/48.1/72 less detailing to do and less mistakes to make heh heh
Thanks Landy, after 2 Japanese F-2s a 1/48 Spitfire is inline to be built.
regards,
ahhui

ooh, lovely build mate! love the code too, had e-wk been a spitfire or a hurricane (or something else that's easy to find and build) i'd build one myself. something about ewoks and my past...

Sarjana Six Zero, out!!
Loo CK - August 19, 2009 10:54 AM (GMT)
I wanna be your soul provider.....
ehhh. wrong Michael Bolton....
His hair might get caught on the turret gun
enghui - August 20, 2009 01:02 AM (GMT)
Brada Sarjana, thanks , i will post when I get home the "bawa" shots. The instructuions call for black overspray over the sky, but I just used sky since I wanted a sky underside so the plane is before it was oversprayed....did that make any sence?Teh Ais 2 gelas besar!
Brada Loo, did you know ?Micheal bolton and Steven Segal are actually the same person...
Loo CK - August 20, 2009 03:47 AM (GMT)
After a ride on this here airplane...YES, they are the same person.
Went in Seagle, came out Bolton.
Only mystery is how did he lose so much weight. Seagle is like a walking whale nowadays...
landyshah - August 20, 2009 03:49 AM (GMT)
Do you know we will never see Diana Ross again now that Michael Jackson is dead?
Loo CK - August 20, 2009 03:53 AM (GMT)
I shouldn't be laughing but HAHAHAAAHAHAHAAHAA.....
My partners are looking at me now, wondering what just happened....

DR = MJ?? :huh: :blink:
landyshah - August 20, 2009 04:07 AM (GMT)
Ah yes Jason, this is one of the great secrets of our time....dual personality = dual income!
As pointed out by EH, Michael Bolton and Steven Segal also followed in this technique..
Same case with Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder
Silantra - August 20, 2009 01:40 PM (GMT)
missed this thread..
excellent hi standard finished Kapten.... love the sheen of the final color.. (not charlie sheen ok...)
enghui - August 20, 2009 05:59 PM (GMT)
Bro Loo, they are like Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor.
sad..no more Diana Ross...
Thanks bro Zaidi, did you know that Charlie Sheen And Emilio Esteves are brothers?
Same case with Mukhriz Mahathir and Koh Tsu Khoon.
enghui - August 24, 2009 12:48 PM (GMT)
