Title: Classic Airframes -venom
Description: 1/48 Scale

mr b - July 15, 2009 12:53 AM (GMT)
Hi Folks

After being convienced by Masterqq.......I will be building this........long story short....My intended build was a FB4 .......of the RAF for Operation Firedog........but on checking the box......the booms supplied were of the FB1 ..............so I was in a total bind as Classic Airframes was not able to supply the correct booms.......after much soul searching and thinking........decided to build the FB1 in RNZAF markings.........for Operation Firedog.......thanks to some generous help to source the decals.......which should make its way to me........

I will post some shots here.........as and when........limited run kits.........sometimes......can headaches........already preped the cockpits and internals this week........test fitting.....cleaning and painting......with perhaps some scracth building.........the resin looks very good

landyshah - July 15, 2009 01:49 AM (GMT)
Simultaneous cartridge start for the Ghost engine.....

Aha, I saw Eng Hui bought this exact same kit, with firedog decals also...so mini GB? :D

masterqq - July 15, 2009 02:12 AM (GMT)

mr b - July 15, 2009 02:34 AM (GMT)
Sky- .........FB 1 and FB 4 both come with verisons for Firedog one RAF and the other RNZAF

Pooh - Nice observation........and imagine the pollution for each start.....

Master - One at a time.......the Canberra is too big........to display...........

Capt C.E.H - I would welcome you to join in........thanks for letting me know Landy....infact if anyone else are welcome tooo :)

Sorry if anyone else got any reference of this pls......feel free to post here.....or even a completed build.......it will surely motivate

Operation Firedog 2009!

Dear B man, I m not so keen on building this venom just yet, I have something else on my plate at the moment, but I look forward to your progress.
Confirm you bought the Classic Airframes FB4 and the booms are correct for the FB1? I have the same kit, please enlighten me.

mr b - July 15, 2009 08:48 AM (GMT)
Capt

No worries.........hope to see it built soon ..........with reference to the kit.......

I purchased the Derek Pennington Special FB 4 but they supplied the older booms in the box.......so i cannot make the FB 4 only the FB 1....the kit is very much same other then the booms the FB 4 got some sought of buldge in the front and rear of the fins ontop of the boom (looks similar to a scaled down version of a f-5b wing tip tank)......I would suggest you check your boxing too...........The FB 1 has less pronuced bits on the fin

Classic Airframes are known to make these mix ups......and the best part cannot get the replacments........

Hope this helps............

Mr b

enghui - July 15, 2009 10:51 AM (GMT)
I see B man. Thanks for the clarification.I have the exact same kit.It has the correct booms. You are welcome to look/borrow/cast/vacform it if you want. :)

mr b - July 15, 2009 11:12 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the offer ......chief..........but my mind already converted to the RNZAF FB1 forgot to mention in my eariler post.........the fb 4 noteable has the power alieron so you will have to cut the molded one and put the new ones in....(saves me doing that ) at least...and the bluges......as mentioned..........

Wish me luck........will be going towards the fan and exhasut to be cut hopefully tonight...

Ok some pics.......of test fitting.........looks good..........tommorow some washing and painting the cockpit........the last pic..........also shows the ejection handles done up ..........I also replaced the kit seat rails with plastic rod..........

All close up well........with canopies.........

Needs alot of test fitting and the panel needs to be shaved very thin......to close up the sides.........the side walls also better to thin it as well with the seat.......to sand smooth under.......
