Title: German Longshot
Description: blohm und Voss P194

enghui - July 13, 2009 02:05 PM (GMT)
Hi guys, back to German WW2 again. This time its a paper project ,Luft46 build, something that never existed, hmmm ,might be a candidate for the SciFi group build.

This the Revell 1/72 kit.Built almost oob except ....
new seat built(original was too small)
landing gear was too chunky, it was thined down and brake lines added.
Propeller replaced with one from a Hase 1/72 Fw190D-9, it has much nicer detail and is more macho.
numerous antennas added
and position lights replaced with clear parts

The camo scheme is a beautifull late german scheme copied from a Tamiya me262.Chipping was rendered using Ari's soap water method. It is truly easy to do and produces stunning results.
Overall a most enjoyable build, fitting was good, its a funky plane.
This the link to the luft46 site=>>Blohm und Voss P-194

best regards,
eng hui

moJimbo - July 13, 2009 03:48 PM (GMT)
even weirder is that it has both a radial engine AND a jet engine.... oh, and an amazing build sir :)

landyshah - July 13, 2009 05:11 PM (GMT)
Wah, some fast work there from what you showed me on saturday...lovely job !

Guess they didnt have much confidence in jet engines those days

Impressive build, eng hui.

Even if some things in life are 'FS', this build sure isn't one of them.

Loo CK - July 14, 2009 06:16 AM (GMT)
The design looks a bit lobsided. Curious to know if it flies.
BTW, what's the soap water method.

Smashing great job Mr.!

enghui - July 14, 2009 06:52 AM (GMT)
Thanks Guys,

and Glad you guys like this strange plane, you cant accuse Blohm und Voss for not thinking out of the box, but this build was mostly out of the box. :P
But alas it never flew, they didnt say how it would be operated also

mojimbo, theres a double radial included ,it can be displayed cowls open and a detailed bomb bay too.

landy, yup I worked hard pushing this through the production line.

Jason, ya you need a Feng Shui master to fly this plane.

Ex El Presidente," ari's" soap water method is as follows.
1, Use only gunze Mr Color paints(because its thin)
2.Spray silver on your model.
3.Apply a thin layer of dishwasher soap thinned with water(not too soapy, just soapy enough)Try to apply without leaving any bubbles. You can apply it over a large area and then chip the corners later.
4.let da soap layer dry.
5.Spray on the camo layer.
6.Chip using a toothpick with a rough edge.If the paint dont come off easily maybe the upper layer is too thick.Or u can use something more abrasive like a metal edge or sandpaper.very sticky tape also can I think. You dont need to add water while chipping.
Very easy to do , this is my first time doing it btw.

Again thanks guys.

One of the best 1/72 I have seen!!!!!!!! Didn't know Revell had this. I recall there is an Airfix version which came out around the time of their FW189. Both were 'strange looking' planes by Luftwaffe standards. The part I lik best is your work on the exhaust. Speechless :o

Patrick

Thanks Patrick, you are most generous. The silver on the exhaust was tinted at the edge with clear blue and around the mid ring with a mixture of smoke , clear red and clear orange.

Penang airport still carries some revell but not this particular kit.Revell has a nice selection Luft46 subjects.I believe Minature still has this if anyone is interested. No stress since you can build it anyway you want. ^_^

I've got a question, cap'n.

The instrument panel:

Did you cut up the individual dials & gauges from some decal sheet, or paint them?

seelianglim - July 15, 2009 10:10 AM (GMT)
Er..i got another question..

Why show the 2 wheel struts? They look identical. No before n After pics ar?

Bro Jason, instrument dials and gauges was painted using slightly wet with paint paintbrush.I hover the paintbrush over the dails and touch them a little bit building up the detail slowly.1 dial takes about 4-5 runs. Also same with the red color just touch the red area with red in 1 go.Any mistakes can be touched up with black.
Paint has to be smooth not too wet or too dry .Paint must be thin also.
