druid_99 - July 10, 2009 04:29 AM (GMT)
Hi guys...

Since I messed up the decal and are waiting for the replacement, I am thinking of building something different.

The subject.... Nissan Leopard Turbo that I bought from HHQ before they move to the new location.

This will be built into a bosozaku car, a Japanese modification that are totally extreme that you might not be able to absorb the modification done with what you usually saw on the road.

P/S: Sky will know what I'm talking about.

druid_99 - July 13, 2009 06:31 AM (GMT)
Ok, more update on the Leopard build. I have added the front splitter that is usually present on bosozoku cars using 0.5mm plastic sheet.

user posted image

After that is done, I added the most important thing on the car that differentiates it from the normal cars... A very huge front skirt. I added a full 2cm length of front spoiler on the car, again using 0.5mm plastic sheet.

user posted image

Since that is also done and just needs some filling and sanding, I continue with building the side skirts and extra-large wheelarch. The side skirt is again using 0.5mm plastic sheet and the wheelarch extension is built using 0.25mm plastic sheet. Bondite will be added later on the wheelarch to make it more sturdy and to make it easier to detail. Bondite will also add the thickness to the wheelarch.

my guess would be 3 cm high :P .

druid_99 - July 13, 2009 07:17 AM (GMT)
The rear wing will not be that high but the tailpipe is... hahaha... It is going to be huge and 90 degree angle. Will look like a truck tailpipe at the rear bumper...

druid_99 - July 14, 2009 12:56 AM (GMT)
Ok guys, more update... This time... the exhaust...

Usually this type of cars are installed with exhaust so rediculous that you can't even imagine one would has it installed on their car. So, off I go building the most wierd exhaust system that I don't even sure if it really improves anything if it is on a real car. Using various size of plastic tubes and rods, below are picture. It is still incomplete and more needs to be done.

user posted image

While rumaging through the toolbox, I came across an intercooler that I have casted years ago and decided I will use this with the car. Since the hose are messed up during the casting process, I remove it and will rebuild it later. Below are just the mock-up on where the intercooler will be at.

user posted image

Now all I need is an oil cooler and it will be perfect.

Since the exhaust is almost complete, I just test fit it to see how it looks on the car. The weirder the better is all I can say...

user posted image

Notice that I have also added bondite on the rear fender. This will then be smoothed out and add details to make it look better.

It is not completed yet lah... It will be higher than that...

druid_99 - July 27, 2009 04:27 AM (GMT)
More update on the Leopard...

I decided I want to go a bit more extreme on the modifications. I saw in a movie a car that has its turbo unit sticks out of the bonnet and decided to give it a try. So, using a plastic rod and a part from a disposable lighter, I scratchbuilt a turbo unit. Since it will not be visble fully so I just build it for looks and not as per the real thing.

This is how it looks like.
user posted image

Another angle...
user posted image

Next is to prepare the place where the turbo unit is going to be located. It might not look realistic but then again, this car itself is unrealistic if you are looking at a normal car build's point of view... So, to put the turbine, first I have to cut off a hole. There is an air intake hole on the bonnet and that is the best area where I can locate the turbine.

First off, I cut off the air intake on the bonnet and put a plastic sheet to cover it while leaving a hole just enough to fit the turbine.

user posted image

Since that is done, I test fit the turbine in the hole... looks good...
user posted image
Close up on the turbine and the location.
user posted image
user posted image

Since I am satisfied with the location, I move on to putting bondite on the front fender and the sides of the spoiler.
user posted image
I have also put a mock-up rear spoiler as guidance. Will be making the real one after I have finished with the interior.
user posted image

Moving on to the interior, I just made a template and trace it onto a sandpaper and glue it onto the floor. Reason being I'm too lazy to fill in the holes.
user posted image

When that is done, I just can't wait trying to dryfit and get the whole look of the car...

wow..druid, the extended wheel arch mod looks clean, is it sanded? everthing looks GREAT! ^_^

sky_tokyodrifter - July 27, 2009 04:37 AM (GMT)
only 1 word can describe it. DAMN CUNNNNNN ^_^

How to make the siput? i still dont get it. Using a part from a lighter and plastic rod. No putty? huhu. Me want to tiruuuuuuu :P

druid_99 - July 27, 2009 05:19 AM (GMT)
Entau: The wheelarch is shaped using Bondite and plastic sheet is used as guidance. After the Bondite is applied, I smooth it using wet finger to get the shape.

Sky: Will provide pictorial guidance when I have the time.

Thanks AzlanD, I think I'm going to use this wheel. I have another set though but will be using it for another model car.

Sky: Design sama lah sebab inspiration pun comes from the same type of modification...
