Here's the latest addition to my gallery. This figure is from Warriors and the box indicates it to be SS. That's also what the client wanted but did the Germans have any elite divisions serving as mountain troopers?

I have done one from Lincoln County Line which had a mountaineer's jacket and would be a better representation. This guy in tunic is not dressed for winter ( as portrayed on the box ) so I painted the base with short, lichen-like folliage. In view of shipping the pick is not glued yet.

Anyway, I gave him Archer collar tab decals with the rank of Unterscharfuhrer/Sargeant and painted the collar with NCO lining. Mountain Troop patch is from Verlinden. Waffenfarbe is green. Climbing boots have two tone leather - a lighter and darker brown. The hollowed goggle lenses were filled up with canopy glue. This dries clear and gave them a glossed look. Elmer's or white PVA should also work. MP40 sling is scratchbuilt.
