Loo CK - June 18, 2009 06:27 AM (GMT)

moJimbo - June 18, 2009 12:03 PM (GMT)
can the tamiya tanks (the one they released with the finemolds crew) be eligible for the MGB?
Loo CK - June 18, 2009 12:07 PM (GMT)
jimbo,
there are 2 releases :
1) Ha-Go with Tamiya figures
2) Chi-Ha with Finemold figures
both are actually models for the Malaya campaign as the markings are for Malaya.
They are A-OK ;)

jimbo,
the SPG never made it in Malaya, at least not from my references. Hopefully the MHG guys can confirm this?
As for the other 2, you are absolutely on the money!

CP,
leave the transportation problems to me as I can drop by to help out on the day. Your models are small anyway!
Thanks for the support guys.
As this is the 4th year running, I am trying to hit over 100 kits in the collection. The planes numbers were lower last year as logistics was aproblem for some of the contributors. Can I suggest that if transporting all your collection is a problem, perhaps let us have your best?
Loo CK - June 19, 2009 04:02 AM (GMT)
Poohbear,
I am thinking of redoing the dio to make it more exciting. The old base was totally wasted anyway, as it was crushed while being stored at Outpost.
Bomber, Thomas and David: you guys in? I need to plan the dio size
xamel1975 - June 19, 2009 04:26 AM (GMT)
Major has posted some of his Malbatt photos in Bosnia at
Resources Section .
Maybe that'll make an interesting dio.

Loo..
I'm In, you can use my MIFV and figure for the dio..
On top of this,
I think the bandit camp strike dio is with AIdy, maybe can contact him to bring the dio for display too...
PoohBear - June 19, 2009 06:22 AM (GMT)
The camp strike bases should be at HHQ? At least, they were there the last I visited which was quite a while back.
On another note, looks like we will be having a duck feast come MGB ^_^
Loo CK - June 19, 2009 10:30 AM (GMT)
The DUKWs should have a dio base too!
Thomas,
the strike base is at HHQ minus the river and planes....Aidy!!!!
aidy - June 20, 2009 01:24 AM (GMT)
Planes and river section will be delivered soon I hope.
I'll send whatever I've got done already. There are a few perpetual 'in-progress' on the bench, I'll add whatever I can get motivated to finish by then.

Works have proceeded to paint up the Ha-Go using a brand new Gunze masking sol. This new generation masking sol is really great and easy to apply. Works very well on plane canopies too.
Result photos will be posted tonite!
Looking forward to more updates of entries. Lots of missing Merdeka modellers here.....

Mighty Ducks team - we are all going to submit the same grey colour Malayan duck if we build OOB.
We should try to each to look for some other Malayan scheme if possible? Anyone got more info?
Holy P - June 22, 2009 06:01 AM (GMT)
Dear landyshah,
You suggest the ducks to look different but still for Malayan use? Mine is 95% completed just not yet apply washes, want me to post here for viewing?
Regards.

Some Ref photo;

Photo claim somewhere in Malaya (White Dukw)

Another one, abandoned, Malaya 1951
(Look like green colour)
landyshah - June 22, 2009 06:40 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys! Yes, please post any info or any build you have, will be great!
Im sure there were green DUKWs involved in Operation Zipper landings in Port Swettenham in Sept 1945 and used in Malaya...this could be like the green one in the pic. The white ones were from the 60's
Loo CK - June 22, 2009 03:08 PM (GMT)
my small update.
Not sure if the Ha-go will add to the scene but will have to wait and see.
The basic 3 colour camo and yellow stripes are done with a light filter and a first layer wash added. More to come after this.
Did a bit of recolouring to the palm fronds and some of the vegetation. The tree received more branching. The demolished bridge had some reinforcement bars inserted
C&C welcomed

Loo,
Did U repaint the 2 Japs in front of the tank? I mean their shirts' colour look abit glossy.... What's the paint colour code (Vallejo I presume) U've used for the Jap uniform? they look quite "bright" than the usua l Khaki...

landyshah - June 23, 2009 01:50 AM (GMT)
Just my 2cts...hope the displays wont be hidden away inside Outpost like they were for SMM.....unless the intention is for the GB to be a meeting among club members only - which would be a shame since its a good chance to get some publicity for the club.
I think Msian related subjects would be interesting to the public so they should be displayed in a place where can be seen. Some media invite should be made too. If this is already being done, great! Would be happy to help in any way for this.
After all, we have the freedom and ability to re-create any part of Malaysia's history in miniature, how many people can do that?
cptan - June 23, 2009 03:00 AM (GMT)
Landy,
Last year MGB did have some minor upgrade on the display area, we move from OutPost back room to Outside OutPost. Right infront of Outpost where currently all the movies' prop are displaying now....
But sadly, still not good enough to attract crowd lar... I know there're lots of issues need our gallant club AJK to handle, but it will be nice to get the center court of Ceni Leisure as display area. Better if anyone got any connection to get some VIP to come for the official launching.
Anyway, we very much appreciate our previous groups of AJK who strive their best effort for all those past year MGB and newspaper exposures...
