Title: Bulding A Car That Is Not Available Anywhere...
Description: Mitsubishi Airtrek
stutzedward - June 17, 2009 02:13 AM (GMT)
I can't find 1:24 Mitsubishi Airtrek nor Outlander in HLJ or even in Google. I guess it does not exist. Is it possible to build one?! Ya know, taking a similar car and building it from scratch.

i remember, someone used the evo vii and convert it into airteck !

Nothing is impossible in model building. You can build the Mitsubishi Airtrek but the first thing you have to do is to get as many reference picture as you can and as many info on the subject as you can.
Then comes the big question... is it easier to scratchbuild the whole car or convert from an existing model.
Scratchbuilding needs you to have a very extensive information on the subject. You need to have the measurements, dimensions and other details plus the blueprints to make the building process easier.
For a start, you can go
here to get the blueprints for the Airtrek Turbo.
Hope the link helps. :)

I am a lazy snake... is it possible to build one from Evo 7? (like wht Cham2020 said). I mean, with minimal modifications. Evo 7 is a sedan but Airtrek is a wagon. Wht is the closest platform/body to start modding on?
druid_99, thanks for the blueprint. any reckon where to start? wht sud I buy? clay?putty?

If you are looking at building the Airtrek with minimal modification using Evo 7, I don't think it will be possible. Take a look at the basic Evo 7, there are a lot of difference between both the Airtrek and the Evo 7 from the front fascia up to the overall shape.
If I were to build the Airtrek, I would start in printing the line drawing into the scale that I want to build it. Only then I will think of what material that is suitable to build it. For a 1/24 scale, putty will be widely used.
Even of you want to modify the Evo 7 to Airtrek, you will need a lot of cutting and modifying to make it look like the Airtrek.

I will try to scout around... maybe the previous generation of CRV can be modifed. I hv no experience in all these putty stuffs, I guess my first build will be very ugly!
As for measurement and pictures of Aitrek Turbo, it sud be fine cos I got the real car as sample.

im quite agree with bro druid_99 post... i think it will need major modification from the front part until the end part.. huhu.. looks like hard work needed to make it happen.... anyway bro.. if u really want to do it.. i will look forward to ur project.. hehe.. is really nice to see it happens

well..never seen airtrek in 1/24 scale. but i think you can try to scratchbuild it using subaru legacy wagon as your base model..coz the shape looks similar because they are wagon..
just my suggestion anyway..

thanks a lot for the info, Cham. Whoa.... do u hv pictures of the finished product? Seriously, I don't think I hv such skills to go to that extent. I can't even build a proper OOB car. :(
