Title: Where / How To Purchase
Description: crusaders knights
judge dredd - June 16, 2009 06:56 AM (GMT)
Greetings,
I am down for 3 weeks after an emergency appendix operation on 10 june. Been watching DVDs and it trigger back my interest to do medievel figures. Crusader periods is one of the area that I always like.
I just wonder how and where does of those figure kakis here get their items? beside Historex Agent, anywhere else that you guys got them from. In my early days of figure painting, i was in London and those metal figs are easy for me to purchase.
Would love to hear some feedbacks.

You could have a look at Squadron.

Sad to say that medievel, crusader knight figures (excluding 72 scale) are "impossible" to get in this country... If you're not picky... I remember Italeri did came out a batch of 1/32 scale (54mm) plastic "toy" like crusaders.... of course the detail is not that crisp lar.
Talk about white metal figures, I did purchase a few of SEIL (Korean made) 54mm metal figure from Squadron while they're on 70% sales (about US19.90 each)... I think Bear "sapu" quite a lot of them.
Personally, I love all ancient soldier... any period as long as they wear armour.
I'm thinking of sculpting a St. John Knight.... but will have to wait till Merdeka GB over lar...

I have that Italeri 1/32 knights on horses + its Saracen counterparts. For fun painting ok la... I already did 1 Saracen months ago and one 1/2 completed knight but stopped tak tau pasal apa.... tak de mood kut?
Anyway, Thanks Sil, I'll look at the link you send. Just that honestly I have not done any internet purchase before, still not too sure of it.
The holes they did the surgery still have some throbbing pain so cant sit straight too long, so cant do any modelling stuff. I am left with 2 weeks of MC and hope to do something non too stressful. That's why was thinking about figure painting..

Sorry to hear about the discomfort Judge.
As for the link Sil gave you (Colorado Miniatures) I have ordered many times from them in the past. Their prices are very competitive and the owner, Gray Creager is a straight up guy.
A large number of the Crusade related knights can be found from Pegaso and their associate company, Romeo. Soldiers is another brand you may want to check out. Be warned though with our current crudy exchange rate these tend to be on the higher end. I like Elite Miniatures for their value for money but they're Medieval range is limited. Andrea has quite a few as well but from my limited experience with them their quality tends to be variable.

Andrea does a very nice 54mm Crusader in the uncanny likeness of Orlando Bloom in Kingdom of Heaven.
If you're not sure with online purchasing, start with a small order first. Maybe one or two figs for starters. Good luck resisting once you're hooked... ^_^
Wish you a speedy recovery.
cheers

Thank guys.
I am just wondering, anyone making any order? Can I tumpang 1 kaki?
modelsinfinescale - June 18, 2009 10:07 AM (GMT)
Yes, Colorado Miniatures. Gray will only charge you exact shipping unlike other retailers who might quote an estimate which is usually more. All originals there so be prepared to fork out some $$$ though.
This guy who deals in cheaper recasts might have what you're looking for:
http://www.toy-in.com/mail/index.htmlYes also to buying less so's not to attract Custom's attention. Small packages usually stamped 'dilepaskan'.
Congrats. Good to hear the appendix is out so one less bugger to worry about.
Good Health

Thanks for the input. When to the site - WOW they do have some interesting figures and the prices are that cheap? Have you tried them before and how do you find them? I already saw a couple which I am now itching to place the order.
Appreciate your feedback

Yo your dreddness
Me and me pal shared a shipment not too long ago. The two entries of mine in the last comp ( if you saw them ) were both recasts. We also bought the 90mm German Officer with dog on a leash. The included base is not compatible though but still at those prices who's complaining. Bear in mind also that some were cast in resin from metal kits and there could be poor fit so you might have some work on your hands. Still value for money nonetheless and nothing putty can't fix.
The seller, Zhang Jie used to trade on eBay ( 1/35 Verlindens at 99 cent starts ) but some owner of an original brand sent him down the river so now the site is his main outlet. Write to him first and establish contact. It's always best to know there's someone at the other end of a transaction. Let me know how it goes.
Rots of ruck
