Hi waffen_ss

Cool army ^_^

To correct, just edit your own post.

Use the IMG tag if you want the picture to appear in your post.

eg.

Pooh Bear,
Thanks for your advice. I'll try it again but please advise, can the photo be seen when I preview the post before putting it up? That way, I can know if I am doing it right.

You don't need the URL codes unless linking off board.

Just the IMG codes will do.

*I've cleaned up the code for the first photo. Now all you need to do is edit your post and follow that example.

Good effort painting these little guys Waffen_SS. CP Tan's our forum's expert on Chinese armor but correct me if I'm wrong coz I've always thought the armor plating on the Qin Army was a bit more on the satin/glossy side.

A minor point though but a slight tinge of yellow or brown for the flesh would have given them a slightly more Asian complexion. All in all a good effort all round.

Thanks for sharing these little guys.

Did someone mentioned my name?? ....

Aaaaaah... Beach, good to see you "alive" in the forum again....

About the ancient Chinese armour, you're right. Since the plates were made of animal hide (buffalo and rhinoceros) and later bronze and iron... these plates were all lacquered to protect from the weather.... like the Japanese Samurai armour. So the armour plates should looks abit satin (NOT gloss, please).

...Traces of black paint on these figures suggest that the Qin may have used black lacquered plates and lamellar for their armour....

These are copy from Wikipedia Chinese aremour

Poohbear, thanks again. I have edited my post.
To CPTan & Beachbum, thank you for the painting guide on Chinese armour. The box art did not provide the color guide and I used CPTan's earlier posting on Chinese armour as reference. I had thought of using satin colors but they seems a bit tad bright for 1/72 scale. The armour was drybrushed with light grey for highlight effect and also to tone down the color. As for the flesh, come to think of it, ya, they look like European in Chinese uniform! Or maybe they have been buried in the pits for too long.

waffen_ss,

Something you may consider to try.... "dry-brushing" abit of SATIN clear (HUMBROL enemal paint available at HHQ) only on the armour platting. Cautious don't use "GLOSS clear" for such a small figure or they may look like PLASTIC.

And further try a wash (burnt sienna) on the face and hands, after dried dry brush to hilight the forehead, nose, cheeks, chins and fingers... but you may have to do some touch up on the weapon since they're already glued on the hand lar....
