Squealus> Nice job on the HMAS Australia. I presumed its 1/700th?

What fine "wire" u use for rigging if I may ask?

Hi,

This is the Combrig 1/700 kit with some minor modifications.

For the rigging ,I used paintbrush bristles for the thicker cables (i.e. the funnel stays) and Uni-Caenis fly-tying line for the thin cables.

Make sure you select a good quality paintbrush with fine, uniform bristles.

The Uni-Caenis thread is finer than human hair and hard to see, but glues very easily with superglue and is slightly stretchy and pulls straight with minimal tension.

I bought from here:

Oooo 1/700 combrig, resin model!!! Ok min, TQ for the fine thread link... Is it suitable to use on my 1/350 Varyag and Kirov?

Hi,

I think the Uni-Caenis thread (19/0) is too fine for 1/350 models. It's barely visible.

Easier to use thicker fly-tying line 6/0-8/0. Much easier to handle and see. Most specialized fishing shops in Australia have them. (Is there fly-fishing in Malaysia?)

I've also tried conventional fishing lines and invisible thread for clothing repairs. Although they are quite thin, I have found these types of thread too "springy" and hard and difficult to pull straight without significant tension, thus causing masts to bend or break.
