Title: Subaru Impreza Wrc 2001 Rally Of Great Britain
Description: WRC Group Build

sky_tokyodrifter - May 12, 2009 03:43 PM (GMT)
Well seniors, here's my WIP of the subaru impreza car no 5. I couldn't tahan the stickers so I decided to make the body first then do the rest later. Some mod's to the car which is slightly different from the original version: added CF for the air scoop (looks nicer)

druid_99 - May 13, 2009 01:19 AM (GMT)
Looking good bro. So, you're going to make the doors in open position?

Why did you use the decal seatbelt? Aftermarket belts will make it look better.

sky_tokyodrifter - May 13, 2009 01:56 AM (GMT)
yep, the doors will definately be opened so that can see clearer the interior section. Want to try out the door filling technique that you taught me to make the doors more realistic . FYI the seat belt decals are just for fun. Will replace them with after markets of course, cannot tahan the stickers very poisonous just had to tampal them for fun hehe :ph43r:

Entau - May 13, 2009 02:32 AM (GMT)
looks good sky, keep it up ^_^ , very fast also, make me feel like a snail

sky_tokyodrifter - May 13, 2009 06:10 AM (GMT)

PcEvo - May 13, 2009 08:15 AM (GMT)

Nice progress sky_tokyodrifter... do apply a 'smoke' coat over the CF decal as it look smore realistic (just my cents la) ;)

:o ... later scratch out those seat belt decals?? .. so waste meh :(

am anxiuos to see you mod the doors....good luck :P

sky_tokyodrifter - May 13, 2009 08:53 AM (GMT)
HEHE bro under the sea, the CF I speard out the liquid onto the parts, then put the CF on top, use hairdryer to blow the CF immediately until it becomes soft and shape itself onto the parts, then use hand to make it smooth. For wrinkle or parts that "do not bend according to shape", I apply the softener on top of the CF then very slowly (like siput) spread the carbon so that they become smooth.
But beware bro, the softener tends to rip the stickers apart if not done in "super slow motion" if you apply the liquid on top of the sticker.
The new thread is coming bro.... doing some homework and reference too hehe.

Brother PCEvo, u sure the smoke will make the CF look more realistic bro? I never knew that method. How will the end product look like? (very scared wooo). If you know more please teach me sensei.... As for the seat belt decal well waste I aggree but it was fun though.

hashaney - May 13, 2009 09:50 AM (GMT)

Well sky_tokyodrifter... we can't really see the omni pattern on the actual Carbon Fiber (CF) from a distance unless at close-up. Normally these Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) comes with a gloss and shinning coating.

After market CF decals has a clear and noticeable pattern so to have the 'darker' effect on these decals, hence my point of view is by applying clear 'smoke' would have the best effect...but is up to your preference actually... ^_^

Actually u can look at ...Druid_99 Skyline R34 Build but i'm not sure whether he use 'clear coat' or 'smoke coat'. ;)

UnknownUser - May 13, 2009 10:22 AM (GMT)
sky san..i can't wait to see your finished project. i love the CF decals the most..and i agree with you that applying CF decal on the air scoop makes it nicer!

waiting for the opened-door mod of your subaru too..

jang.....exhaust thermal wrapping tu pakai ape?

sky_tokyodrifter - May 26, 2009 02:43 AM (GMT)
brother lan,

The thermal wrapping, "sifu druid" taught me hehehe. Ok here is how he taught me, take a normal masking tape, cut the masking tape thin size so that the width is about the same scale as a real thermal wrapping. Then just "balut" the exhaust and spray it with white.

Another method brother druid taught me is "balut" the exhaust first then colour the edge of masking black first and after that spray with white. This is to add in the shadow of the wrap (black edge).

I added my own recipe to the "sifu's" method. Before spray, I used my fingers and touched all the thermal wrapping surface so that oil from my fingers will create spots on the masking after spray with white. The thermal wrapping is suppose to have small holes because it looks like fabric pattern. If I didnt use my finger technique to add the oil onto the masking, then if spray with white the surface is going to be super smooth which is not logik hehehe.

P/s: oil form finger tu natural punya (sweat / peluh dari tangan)

Entau - May 26, 2009 03:38 AM (GMT)
