Title: Mig-3 White 95
Description: Trumpeter 1/48
PoohBear - May 12, 2009 02:02 PM (GMT)
Flying in in support of the SGB ^_^
This kit is a photostat copy of its bigger 1/32 brother currently under construction by Comrade Loo.
Low view of the cockpit. The IP dials sucked something awful. To make it a little better, the dials were drilled out and a backing plate added.

Sum of all parts (to date) ^_^

Some little tidbits added were seat belts and some spaghetti wiring from bondite.

That's all for now and to be continued.
cheers
kuman - May 13, 2009 01:45 AM (GMT)
so this later can be posed side by side la ekk.. :D
it always amazes (??) me to see your "bondite-spaghetti" wiring..
i never ever got it to roll-up so nicely... err.. why u didnt use the normal small wire? :) me being curious... :D
easy to control the bondite thickness ? :D
keep them coming Mr Bear :)
kuman
PoohBear - May 13, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
Putty is nice for soft cables, loops and other miscellaneous spaghetti. Thin wire works well for stiff piping, straight runs and minor loops.
I may use both media in a build for added variety ^_^
cheers
Loo CK - May 13, 2009 07:41 AM (GMT)
JK,
looks like the part breakdown difference is quite drastic between the 32 and 48 scale kits.
I will try and pose the part breakdown in a similar layout
The dials drill out looks good. Painting the faces or printing them out?
Good work on the seatbelts. No copyright I hope, I am gonna copy them!
PoohBear - May 13, 2009 07:59 AM (GMT)
Ah I suppose the 48th will be lacking in some areas. ^_^
No prints for the dials. Will try and paint them the hard way. Not to pain(t) full I hope
Have fun with the belts. You'll have more room for detail in 32nd.
cheers
landyshah - May 13, 2009 08:10 AM (GMT)
Looking good there Jason...Kit details looks so crisp and sharp....Then i look at my Spit :(
PoohBear - May 13, 2009 08:21 AM (GMT)
Can't compare the Spitty Shah. That one is age old, has been worked on before and now being reworked. If its any consolation, you're doing just fine so far.
PoohBear - May 14, 2009 02:19 PM (GMT)
Just a wee bit update with a little bit more stuff added :)
An oxygen bottle and...

...a compressed air bottle.

And we'll take a break now and see you in the next episode :)
Thanks for viewing. C&C welcome.
cheers
azlandiver - May 15, 2009 03:34 AM (GMT)
nice oxygen & air compressed bottle you got there.......what materials did you used?
PoohBear - May 15, 2009 04:29 AM (GMT)
The 'bottles' are courtesy of Tamiya plastic rod cut and sanded to shape. The bottle 'nozzle' is a short length of brass wire inserted into the drilled out end.
The 'support band' in yellow is tamiya masking tape.
cheers

PoohBear - May 18, 2009 02:10 PM (GMT)
Another round of update. Still on the assemblies ^_^
Discard the plastic filter for fine wire mesh.

Front view.

Rear view.

Parts for adding a simple linkage to the cooler flap and..

...the assembled link.

And that's all for todays episode.
See you at the next one :)
Thanks for viewing.

Becky - May 18, 2009 08:06 PM (GMT)
Nice n details. Hope to see this Mig complete soon.
PoohBear - May 26, 2009 01:34 PM (GMT)
Thanks Becky and apologies for late response.
Here's a wee bit update for today.
Halfway through painting the cockpit. See if you can spot the rudder pedal straps in all the photos ^_^

And that's all the update quota for now.
See you in the next episode :)
thanks for viewing.
C&C welcome.
cheers
PoohBear - May 27, 2009 02:34 PM (GMT)
Mini update :).
Weathered the cockpit with the usual filters, washes, dustings etc.

The oxygen and air canisters can hardly be seen. Probably not worth to do in this 1/48 kit but nice to know its there. ^_^

QC&C welcome
cheers
landyshah - May 27, 2009 02:43 PM (GMT)
Excellent as usual Jason. Lovely detail painting
Just one question....the seatbelts seem to come out of the middle of the back rest? Or is it the angle of the shot that makes it look so? Strange, I wonder how the pilot buckles up...over his shoulders then down to the lap buckle?
PoohBear - May 27, 2009 11:55 PM (GMT)
Cheers Shah :)
The shoulder harness is above the half of the seat and goes through a slot in the vertical center. Not that I put a ruler to it but that's how it looked in the reference drawing ^_^
I guess if its positioned that way, it should run up the back and over the shoulders of the pilot to attach to the lap belt.

PoohBear - June 30, 2009 01:25 PM (GMT)
Oops. I think I missed the SGB by a kilometer (or more) ^_^
Nevermind, let's continue with the build and just maybe it'll be finished in time for the next one. :D
This time, we shall work on the radio stack & cockpit tools holder. The tool holder thingy is right behind the seat and trumpy is kind enough to provide a nice simple square box which is a bit of a no-no so...

... off it goes and we can now proceed to install the new one ^_^

Aaah for the love of spaghetti! Cables, straps and tool bundle (sounds kinky, eh? :D) courtesy of Ms.Bondage ...er...bondite.

And now for a short commercial break :)
Thanks for viewing and Q, C&C welcome.
To be continued...
cheers
PoohBear - July 1, 2009 11:32 AM (GMT)
Commercial break's over ^_^
Quickie update which is simple addition of the gun priming handles.

That's all for now and TBC.
cheers

Loo CK - July 5, 2009 05:54 PM (GMT)
Neat and the wires did their job in making the office looks complicated by ten folds. Time to close her up.
mr b - July 14, 2009 11:25 PM (GMT)
Nice Mr Pooh
them handles on the panel (if they are called that).......remind me of the old mercedes benz hand break the type you pull from the dashboard.......
Always wanted to ask you..........but always slips .........wht is the blue tape you use .......and how/where can I get hold of some...........?
Rgds
Mr B
PoohBear - July 15, 2009 12:02 AM (GMT)
Thanks, B.
Strange design for a brake handle if the Benz had something similar :D
The blue tape is 3M masking tape. You can get it from Ace Hardware. The one in Ikano had a whole lot of them on the rack a while back. Comes in two sizes 1in and 2in I think. Its not exactly cheap but one roll can go a long way.
Hope that helps.
cheers
mr b - July 15, 2009 02:07 AM (GMT)
Thanks I will check Ace out..........

broder bear,
Loving your scratch build bro. Maybe I will have to steal some of your ideas hehe. Very creative indeed ;)
I see a lot of scratchbuild parts :o wahlaweiiiiii
Keep us posted ya ;)
PoohBear - July 15, 2009 03:01 AM (GMT)
Arigato sky-san.
Be my guest with the techniques. Maybe you can improve on it and share with us all :)
cheers
PoohBear - July 20, 2009 12:32 PM (GMT)
Works to date and progress is slooow :)
Canopy on. It's very wide and we can see a fair bit of the detail even with canopy closed so paying a bit of attention to the cockpit will go quite a ways.

C&C welcome.
cheers
Loo CK - July 21, 2009 04:44 AM (GMT)
WHY ARE WE WAITING?????
Warp factor 9 Mr Sulu...
PoohBear - July 21, 2009 04:56 AM (GMT)
She's givin all she's got, Capt'n. Could be a wee bit 'o Gremlins left inna warp core ^_^
Loo CK - July 21, 2009 05:40 AM (GMT)
Ooi!
Sulu speaking in Scottish slang??????
PoohBear - July 21, 2009 06:29 AM (GMT)
Spock: Apologies Captain. Scotty & Sulu's Deoxyribonucleic acids got mixed up during transporter beaming. Those darn gremlins....
Loo CK - July 21, 2009 02:19 PM (GMT)
Chekov would have fitted nicely in this Russian build.....
shahrs - July 21, 2009 05:05 PM (GMT)
That is one really clear canopy. can see all the nice stuff in the cockpit..
PoohBear - July 22, 2009 12:56 AM (GMT)
Trumpy did well with the clear parts here. Thin and good to go with just a polish or dip in future for that extra shine.
cheers
