ic..i know that time machine in times square selling mr hobby spray can. does anyone know the quality of mr. hobby spray and am i able to spray it on the kit that has been sprayed by tamiya paint?
azlandiver - May 12, 2009 02:29 PM (GMT)
I'm a spray can user, both industrial & hobby spray cans too
In my opinion Mr hobby spray can is suitable for any plastic kits, I used it on some of my aircraft. So far the results turns out to be ok for me :D
For the kit you want to respray, it would be good if you just strip the paint first using brake oil & then spray again using the color you choose
Maybe other sifus in here can give their advice too.
Good luck bro
Just my 1 cent

Hi UnkownUser.... welcome to the can sprays club...u too azlandiver... :P
u may also want to checkout ToyCity outlets as they also carry TMY spray cans... The last check (last Friday) at TMY Underground there're stock available on TS14 and the price is @ Rm28 each.

PcEvo, you using spray can too? but the result of your cars are shinny! even more shinny than mine!
well..it's hard to drop by in 1U since i'm living in Cheras area, but i heard that time machine in Time Square do stock up some Mr. Hobby spray can too..
azlandiver, how could you manage the industrial paint so that it won't melt your plastic? I've tried on my unwanted kit, even the industrial primer melts my kit too..
azlandiver - May 13, 2009 09:50 AM (GMT)
thanks peter :D .....i thought all this while u are using airbrush :P
unknownuser-what industrial brand of spray can you use? i used hobby spray cans, anchor & pylox is the best. so far it doesn't melt my kits at all, even the primer too.
UnknownUser - May 13, 2009 10:27 AM (GMT)
i used anchor brand industrial paint, as recommended by most of the modellers. even the primer melts my plastic!
and i don't even dare to touch other industrial paint brands..so now just using hobby sprays..
i really thought that PcEvo was using airbrush!

 .. thanx azlandiver and UnknownUser for ur words .... i'm a can spray modeler all this while and started with industrial paints and now mix. Started AB not long ago and still learning. Most of my car and bike kits are can sprays till today. Recently my build is also mainly can sprays on the exterior but the interior i'm using AB. Don't worry 'can spray' modelers can also archieve very good result ...u should check out my 'Tangerine Lamboghini Gallardo' later
As for industrial can spray...i would recommend 'Anchor' but i'm not sure about it's primer cos i didn't use it. 'Pylox' i dun really recommend (sorry azlandiver, hope u r not the boss of the brand :P ) cos the enamels paints will sometimes melt or have some chemical reaction over the plastic. I've experience before with both color and clear 'Pylox'. MayB is depends on plastics too. Don't ever spray direct to ur model kit..try 1st.
Some colors we can't find but industrial paints have..like "Petronas Green"..only Anchor has it so i use it for my
"PERT Evo 5"As for overlapping of colors with different brand of hobby colors, i would advise you to try on the sprue or unwanted plastic kits then only spray on ur kits. I've try to use Super Clear UV Cut can spray over TMY Pearl White on my Z33 (to post later) and it works out ok :)
UnknownUser - May 13, 2009 02:21 PM (GMT)
don't dare to touch the industrial paint anymore..haha..yes, i believe that spray can user could achieve very good result too..'coz at this moment, saving money for the AB..
brother..i'll wait for your Z33 and Gallardo..haha..will plan to build a Z33 again after finish my collection on GT-R..
by the way, i can't manage well in industrial paint. if there is any scale car modellers meeting in the future and i manage to attend, will definately seek for all of the sifus infos and technique!
