Title: Pt-109
Description: Progress build Revell 1/72 PT Boat.

Ok. to fill up ship yard I thought I'll show the progress of my PT-109. Pretty much the same where I left off the last time I posted it.

More painting detail to be added. The life presever has yet to be fitted as well as the figures. All grab handles were shave off and replaced with stretched sprue.

Shot of the back of the torpedo tubes that have recieved detail using copper strips that were made to look like Raya Kuih. Besides that the molded piping was cut away and replaced with stiff wire.

The twenty mm gun recieved a new gun shield from plastic card.

Close up of the fifty calibres. Scratched the belt feeders, gun tube with flash supressers, the cocking handles and added grab handles that curved over the back of the guns.

Still haven't given the guns the gunmetal look yet. Chipping of the raillings also not done yet.

The control deck got a bit of detailing. I added knobs and handles to the consule.

Close up of the front gun tub that got the same treatment as the other tub.

From this angle you can see how many Kuih Raya I had to make.
This version is much earlier than the one that got rammed and made Kennedy famous without the 57mm gun up front.
Now to make it more lived in with figures.
Richard.

Richard,
Since U're building the US PT... I presume U must have know a bit from the research lar...
I've notice the box-art showing the torpedo "shooting" out from it's un-covered tube (painted red head)... but base on your kit picts, there seems to be some sort of "cover" over the torpedo head while in the tube...
So my question will be, if there exist such cover, I presume the cover will be manually open B4 fire or "pops-away" by itself upon fire?

Thanks Bud and druid.
CP - The covers are plexiglass domes normally screwed on to protect the torpedoes. They will be removed prior to combat. The reason that some picture shows them in red is some might have been clear and the red torpedo head is seen. That's my conclusion.
Richard.

Shah,
Zebra crossing camo is good challenge. Nice to see one done up by you. The top (Deck) I presume does not have the camo does it?
Bud,
Kuih loyang is so popular that it's made even during Deepavali and CNY. It ought to be called Kuih Malaysia and the mold modified to resemble Bunga Raya. Just a thought :D
Thanks Guys,
Richard.

Buds : That Zebra scheme only on a couple of Elco 80's, for experiment, later they painted over cos it didnt work. Maybe sailors all got seasick...
Swift was Vietnam war, so had their own OD scheme. Vosper (70ft Type I and II) had very nice 2 tone grey schemes...
Rich: None on the top deck, the pattern was to break up side outline.
