Title: 1/72 Airfix Hunter Fga 9
Description: MGB09: Ops Confrontation Part 2

masterqq - May 6, 2009 02:05 AM (GMT)
Gangs,

This is my Ops Confrontation part 2 after my Canberra, Hawker Hunter, RAF 20 Sqn based in RAF Tengah that saw action during Confrontation...

This is an old Airfix kit that again donated by Shah via Mr B, Mr B took the fuel tank and rocket pod and sent me the rest of the kit, Replacement decal sent by a UK modeler "Ratch".. Thanks guys...

This kit is full of sink mark on all the area that had thick section beneath, I filled all the sink mark with super glue and will be sanded smooth later, by doing so most of the raised line will be remove too, so I will rescrib most of the line...

More to come..

Always nice to see a Hunter being build.

I'm also building one at the moment but it is the revell hunter f.6.

masterqq - May 12, 2009 02:09 AM (GMT)
F100,

The Revell is much superior kit, can you show your progress, I would very much like to see it ... :D

f100supersabre - May 12, 2009 04:17 AM (GMT)
i do agree that the revell kit is a more superior kit. The airfix kit is badly dated. I have both the revell and airfix kit. The airfix kit was built years ago and it was not well-done. the revell one is almost done. i didn't took any in-progress pics but i ll try post some pics in a new thread once i take some pics..

He he he we almost at same age, yes, the eyes not the same when we was young. I'm a short sighted person. But since last year I have to take off my glasses whenever I read or play psp. It was not so when I was young. Probably need to get new set of glasses.

I didn't know Airfix brand is still around O.O

masterqq - June 29, 2009 02:38 AM (GMT)
Completed.. Ready for MGB09..

The rocket pods in the inner station is just temporary, I received this kit without the larger fuel tank, So i put the rocket pods there until I found the replacement.

Thanks to Shah, B, Kenny, Ratch for the material to complete this kit..
Kit now moved to the MGB staging area at Loo's Place.. :D

I hope you like it and stay tune for Ops Confrontation part 3: Airfix's Javelin.. in MGB10..

landyshah - June 29, 2009 02:55 AM (GMT)
Fantastic Thomas!

Congrats on finishing and doing justice to the kit. I bought it I at least 15 years ago, and you have brought it to life. Im glad they went to you....

The Hunter and Canberra together looks lovely, and when you add the Javelin it will be a sexy threesome :D After that, do a helo threesome of Belvedere, Whirlwind and Sioux

Airfix : There is only ONE!

f100supersabre - June 29, 2009 04:09 AM (GMT)
Very Nice Build Masterqq. You make this old kit looks like the new revell tooling...

rtfoe - June 29, 2009 04:24 AM (GMT)
Very nice build there. You make Airfix 'Rock'! And further more I like the airstrip Master QQ.

Like I always say, the dimensions in most Airfix kits are accurate. It's just the rivets and raised lines that put people off that need cleaning to bring it up to speed.

Aisay Landy, you sure found a good succesor and home for your kit. :D

Dear Master,

What paint colors did you use for this build! look nice & accurate! :}

masterqq - July 7, 2009 01:31 AM (GMT)
Ha musang..

I use the Gunze RAF color set.. it came with Ocean Grey, dark green and mid sea Grey, the first 2 were used in this model. and silver bally..

ehh.. this year you takde MGB project ke??? Mig-29 ??

musangpulut - July 7, 2009 03:37 AM (GMT)
RAF Color set? GUnze eh? still available at our LHS?

Yep, I maybe build several jet for this year MGB since

1) I already finished my 6 months "hell months" Admin & diplomatic courses, now back to work at peaceful Teluk Intan

2) I got brand new compressor with 3liters air tank + 3mm handpieces last week

My project this year maybe the 1/48 MiG-29N old camo carrying the AIM-9 captive round. Will post an update on a next few days.

Cheers!
