(it's really boring and at same time nerve testing, esp when u slipped a few "new lines" )

tested one of the panels for mr. rivet counter :P

compare with tamiya one, i'm like a donkey next to a stallion
user posted image

if.. if tak berjaya, i might just fill those rivets and move on..

still a long way to go

The cockpit, it was ripped off from tamiya's part by casting them in remoldable rubber and cast with bondite

that's all for now. C&C are welcome as usual :)

ps: Kirin, still wanna do face-off not?
i haven't post elsewhere yet

azlandiver - April 27, 2009 08:59 AM (GMT)
k......your cockpit & seat ganas btol :D

how many times you sand it? mine last night just sanded...tonight gonna sand it again after puttying some areas

mr rivet counter tu senang tak pakai?

sorry k.....so many questions asking huhuhu

kuman - April 27, 2009 09:01 AM (GMT)
good work...

weh cast la banyak sikit the cockpit and seat....

good job so far... and sabar sungguh buat scribe and rivet sama mcm Lan Selam :D

kuman

klay - April 27, 2009 10:05 AM (GMT)
thanks guys..

lan.. (kebetulan dua hang nie pun lan  )
the ejection seat is courtesy from kirin.
the cockpit console and IP still need trimming and it's still fitting dengan selambanya inside academy cockpit

the scribing and sanding is ulang-alik between.. whenever i slipped, i quickly sand if off and "trace" the panel again.
since i'm using a worn-off compass needle, the not-so-sharp needles will gives a faint line everytime i "draw" along the line, repeating the line until it achieves a satisfactory depth..

the rivet, i cuma pakai compass needle yg sama.. mr.rivet counter tu gelaran jer

Entau - April 27, 2009 10:50 AM (GMT)
the cockpit looks really good, can duplicate some brake calipers for me then :P

klay - May 7, 2009 10:19 AM (GMT)
did some trimming on some area..

sorry.. totally clueless of these part's naming.. :P

(is it the lerx of the wing?)

trying somethingelse..
the HUD in academy kit is really ugly and thick..
(the academy one is the normal HUD, i'm trying to replicate the convex lense of the WAR HUD, even though given the scale it wouldn't be noticeable of the convex, i think it looks nicer B) )

cut out the shape fr PVC sheet
user posted image

after laid a drop of CA glue and harden overnight on both side

the end result:

1 drop of CA glue enough d?

klay - May 7, 2009 10:35 AM (GMT)
yes.. if overflow wil not get convex.
the CA must never over the PVC edge...
the edge will hold the CA in convex due to surface tension.. :D

Fantastic amount of effort put in so far.

I hope you finish this puppy in time for the GB.

At a glance, some will wonder which kit is it.

Yes, I know it's an Acad kit - I have built one too.

What I mean is that after klay is finished with it, it won't look like an Acad kit anymore, that some folks might wonder what brand is it.

klay - May 8, 2009 02:03 AM (GMT)
don't put me so high ler..

i might.. i might just submit the tamiya kit <_<
don't dare me..

ah ahaahaa..

but actually i'm more worried on the intake and some infamous fitting problems than this academy kit has than to take care of the details..
the detailings are just for fun and testing new stuffs..

basic stuffs are harder to master and perfect it i think ;)

The Academy intake is really bad.

They design it such a way there is little structural strength. When I was building mine some years back, the horizontal seam line kept cracking even after using superglue.

If you know anyone with a Hasegawa F-16CJ Block 50 kit, try to get the unused NSI (small mouth) intake parts from them.

It will fit the Academy kit.

klay - May 8, 2009 02:32 AM (GMT)
ok.. gb_madcat has mentioned that too.. but i'm planning to do a block 40, or perhaps 50, with GE engine, so that gonna force me to do major change to the current nsi intake, i remember somehow i've seen the side by side photo of large and small mouth intake but i couldn't recall where already..
coz it's hard to judge the difference when i tried to look at diff pictures of nsi and mcid mouth..

f-4dablemodels - May 8, 2009 02:51 AM (GMT)
OK, if anyone is building their Hasegawa F-16CJ as a Block 52, then they should be able to spare a 'big mouth' intake instead.

I'll check my spares and see what I can find. I know I plan to build a F-16CJ Block 52, so your chances are good.

azlandiver - May 8, 2009 03:27 AM (GMT)
k, nice attempt on the HUD replacement using PVC & CA glue

aku kena berguru la dengan ko macam ni :P

like you said Acad's HUD is ugly

hashaney - May 8, 2009 03:50 AM (GMT)
Klay, really nice attempt on that Wide Array Raster (WAR) HUD...

This is the GE nozzle I got from another friend, it's too from Hasegawa but sadly painted and upon closer inspection cement marks were everywhere as it were build from 4 parts.

And those ejection pins were tough nut to crack

huyoo abg klay, like your detailing. But some how the "telor" thing seems more interesting hehe very cute woooooo. Looks like one of those capsule rides build by Bulma's father in Dragon ball.

P/S: What is the name of the kit and who made the "telor" kit? have any picture of the box? hehe.

Original intake is for Pratt & whitney engine, "senyumannya tak cukup lebar" :P

I'm building a Block 50, using General Electric engine, so have to change the intake and exhaust ;)

Telor nie plastic lah, tak leh makan bang :D

Loo CK - May 29, 2009 05:35 AM (GMT)
Don't know how I missed this WIP, but powerful medicine here!
Keep it up.
Now I am inspired to get started too.

f-4dablemodels - May 29, 2009 06:53 AM (GMT)
klay,

If you want a new surplus F110 tail pipe & ring, let me know.

I don't need it for my Block 52.

klay - May 29, 2009 07:08 AM (GMT)
Taukeh Loo, yes yes yes.. it would be really nice to see you doing a jet again :)

Jason, yes yes yes.. keep it for me 1st, at least I can focus on other area such as the fuselage and the additions for a Block 50 :)
Really owe you big favour man

sky_tokyodrifter - May 29, 2009 08:00 AM (GMT)
