well.. back to ur viper, i find the panel line (between the 2 circle part) is really irritating, coz it's distorted and need rescribing..

i ended up rescribe the whole kit, tapi betul penat.. and it's not really done yet :P

errr.. itu panel line macam got one stretch sinking.. payah nak terang ler, if u turn the surface to reflect the light u'll see what i mean.

then kat belakang just after the canopy part "v-shape" tu ado sink hole..

lepas tu ada lagi banyak panel line yang cetek kat perut ular tu.. that one i confirm biarkan :P

after conparing wt tamiya one, i realised the underwing got rivets arranged in many many line for the academy one, tamiya pulak don't have... :wacko:

since u are doing thunderbirds.. i think it's probably going to be a clean viper..
actually, not to worry too much about the panel lines, but if u decide to rescribe, just make sure this time the panel line is really narrow, otherwise after wash, thick panel lines might make this kit look a bit kotor :P

but the opinion is solely based on a kit from kirin and another tamiya kit for reference and my planned work in future for this viper..

well another updates as of tonight

thanks to brader kuman for advising about the jet intake :) he gives me two choices:

1) to file the inner intake until it is levelled
2) just use putty

so i choose putty instead of filing until my arms looks like "PEPAYA" :lol:



after puttying, sanding & lil bit of filing :rolleyes:




attaching the intake to the fuselage

One comment tho, since ko ni memang Menteri parit and taliair, just hope you sand your panel line yang ko scribe to reduce it.....cos will be VERY obvious on the Thunderbird all white scheme....

This one the MPT scribing line is not too obvious like the 72nd scale but still need to control... Next time try lightly and use less force.

shah-last night i wet sand the whole plane & turns out okay for the panel line....maybe tonight gonna sand it again cos have to putty for some line that accidentally "terlajak" scribe :lol:

tuan major-some line i used less force but ada yang terlebih 'power' lak masa sedut rokok & scribe :P

klay-not all the time i use my full energy to scribe :lol: ......sometimes aje

Lan, even tho F16 is not my area, but I think those Tbird didnt have any pylon ...so u shud fill all those lobang under the wing?

bro,
several methods can fill the hole...

1. putty ... get the less messy one..like miliput or bondite type..apply like u apply a wall/concrete filler (kalau nko pernah guna la)

2. plastic rod..paling senang.. get the one that match the hole size.... potong and then sand a bit

3. stretched sprue - just heat the sprue, tarik until u get the desired size and sumbat dalam lubang...cheapo way...then glue...dah kering baru potong....

4. liquid putty macam2 putty boleh - squadron (if i hve to choose this is the first in the list), mr dissolve putty


good luck in the hole thingy ...........

speaking of Mr Dissolve Putty... bila nak bleh try nih :D :lol:

klay-after fill in the lobang have to sand & primed again.....even after 1st coat of prime still have to do some putty to fill in some overshot panel scribing that i overlooked :lol:

another round of updates

since thunderbirds are not using any of it pylons as pointed out by shah & suggested by panglima silantra :rolleyes: ......i cut out a sprue that matches the hole since i dont have a plastic rod & closed it







haven't cut, sand & putty yet......hopefully tonight can get all the job done

and following tips from BV by enghui on canopy masking, i tried last night by cutting a very thin line of TMY masking tape......thanks for it bros :)

it should be better if u cut the sprue a bit high above the hole...and when glue is dry, slowly 'shave' the area till it level and then maybe putty work...
