Title: My First Attempt At Modelling
Description: Skyline R34

sky_tokyodrifter - April 18, 2009 02:51 AM (GMT)
Hi guys.....(Waving hand).

I'm new at this site. I’m a Malaysian working in Tokyo Japan, and the best thing about Japan is that it is a model heaven. Just started to fall in love with modeling and this is my first attempt at modeling and i personally think that it doesn’t look that great and need to improve a lot. I think that I did wrong with the carbon sheets though thus resulting in wrinkles. I got slapped on the forehead by big brother "druid_99" for not using MR DECAL SOFTENER on the carbon sheets :P hahaha I have no idea they have such things oh man...... I think I also made a mistake with putting tinted films on the rear screen as no one will be able to see the NOS bottles I installed in the rear seats (wasting my 900 yen / 30 ringgit on the accessory. I KNOW! I SUCK RIGHT! hahaha  )

Will have to learn many new things and definitely need to get myself an airbrush. Please comment me as I treat everybody as my teacher in order to improve :D

Just to let you guys know I will be going to the "SUPER COMIC CITY FESTIVAL" in Odaiba Japan on the 3rd and 4th May and I will be going to the "JAPAN HOBBY SHOW" in Odaiba on the 7th till 9th May so........ I will be gladly to help my fellow Malaysian hobby enthusiast to take pictures just give me a long list what you guys want to see and I'll post the pics in this forum for everybody to see.

sky_tokyodrifter - April 18, 2009 05:09 AM (GMT)
hahaha brother cham I got something for you.

Why dont you use the after market bodykits to mod your evo 2. The pic below shows the after market body kits that you can mod into your evo to give it a killer sting

welcome sky...

ur 1st attempt doesnt look too bad, but im sure as u built more u'll improve more

u might need to practice on using cement/glue as little as possible, they are some spot very visible ^_^

sky_tokyodrifter - April 18, 2009 08:02 AM (GMT)
haha thanks brother entau

I know, the minute I put the parts together, the glue started spilling out and i was like grrrrrrrrrrrr (holding a hammer in one hand  ) hahahaha anyway have to learn many many new techniques. Have to work hard to be at the same levels as my mentors hahaha (most likely wont be able to succeed :P ). Anyway thanks again

sky,

First of all, I realike ur tuner kind of builds, inspiring!

as for the glue marks, try using extra thin cement. some clean ups on edges and dark wash on recessed lines will bring the model alive.

one more important thing to cars...bling-bling...

cheers, nice build man!

is ok sky_tokyodrifter...the 1st attempt will always be the memorable one rite guys.. ^_^

As Entau say...when the time comes you sure will improve...so meaning "buy and build more kits"

Notice the bonnet is not intact ....i guess this is an AOS kit rite?...cos i'm having the same problem when building my R34.. so if u r building another R34 of this brand, hold the bonnet down and glue it with superglue from the inside.. ;)

Just my cents la... i think the CF pattern is too 'large' and should use smaller pattern size.

I notice u like "gull wing" style a lot... really admire you on the effort as till not i haven't try it out on my builds yet, mayB can ask u some tips ya...emmm...i think is time <_<

sky_tokyodrifter - April 21, 2009 01:29 PM (GMT)
Thanx brother evo. The bonnet part was really hard. To tell you the truth, I never thought about using super glue. Man I suck! hahahaha. Well I love doing the gullwing style because it adds up the difficulty of the kit. Plus it looks more cool. Im building a rally version of imprezza but this time using normal opening doors style. Well if your interested in building gullwing doors, I just found a perfect kit that allows the doors to function open and close, cool huh? check out my posting at (general description: what have you brought today...) page. I found this kit that can actually work on making the doors open and close.

Thanks again for all the advise. Need to learn a lot in order to improve

p/s: After seing other peoples work on the CF i realize the same thing tooo. I made a mistake, minus 1 point for me hehehehehe
