Title: Nissan Silvia S14 240sx
Description: Fast and Furious 4 diorama

Hi guys,

This is my part that I need to build for the F&F4 Diorama Project. The Nissan Silvia with the crazy paintjob.

The model kit used is the Nissan Silvia kit from Fujimi and first of all there are a few bodymods that needs to be done.

First, I tackle the area that does not need any modification at all, the chasis. It is painted with a mixture of silver, super silver and gun chrome.

After that is done, then the bodymods is next.

First I put on the rear skirting that is included in the model kit and just extend it on the rear as per the ones in the movie (only the sides are included in the model kit).

After some putty is applied to close the minor gaps, I continue to work on the side skirts. It is done by putting some plastic sheet as the basic shape and putty before reshaping it as per the movie.

While the side skirts are curing, I start work on the front bumper. A lot of cutting and plastis sheets are needed in this modification and a lot of putty works too but this is the best that I can come with given the short duration and the number of modifications that needs to be sone on all the cars.

Test fitting after a coat of primer to check for flaws.

Looking back at the side skirts, it looks wierd as the top and bottom parts does not flow smoothly so, looking back at the reference I add some bondite on the top portion to make it look much more like the reference.

And the bumper is reworked as well..

Next, the paintwork. :D

Now is the painting stage. The paint used are Super Black for the bonnet and a mixture of Super Silver, Silver and Gun Chrome for the body. A clear coat is applied before the first design work.

Looks much better now..

While the paint sets, I move on with the interior works. The interior is painted with a two-tone paintjob and some details are highlighted using silver paints.

Sorry as I don't take any picture during the masking and painting but only the masking on the bonnet painting. Thanks to Tamiya masking tape that I have no problem on the paint bleeding during the paintjob.

Now comes the sad part... I did not have the completed model kit picture... So, if anyone has the completed picture of this car, please feel free to add it in here... :D

No completed picture because the car is only completed at CKLoo's house, plus I have to work on other modifications for the two Mustangs (which I did not have the completed picture as well :( )

I did not mix all the three colours. I just apply it layer by layer in order to get the desired shade of silver. The base coat is black so, the first layer is silver which is slightly darker and I apply a layer of super silver just to add some brightness to the silver colour and gun chrome is applied just to make the siver colours blends together (I'm not sure how to explain this lah... sorry... hehehe). Basically the gun chrome will dull the super silver a bit lah and makes it less shiny.

oh...ic, k, i understand abit, coz the super silver is quite grainy and shiney, gun chrome is to tone it down lah...should try this :P

Really admire the masking and the 'layer by layer' color mixing effort that you've put in this S14... ;)
