Title: Scifi Groupbuild

RX-78-2 - April 12, 2009 05:28 AM (GMT)
We are planning for a Scifi Groupbuild this year!!
So beside Gundam's competition organized by Bandai, now other scifi modellers can show their talent here!!
I'm trying to get more prizes from different sponsor and myself will contribute some kits to cheer up the show!
Time and venue not decided but u guys can start now!!!

I have suggested 3 catagories:

1. Mecha (all robotic, humanoid fighting machine like Macross, SRW, Votom, SF3D, ArmorCore, etc)

2. Vehicle & Transport (all type of scifi vehicles like star destroyer, white base, xwing, yukikaze, thunderbird, mospeda bike, batmobile, incl. those transformable robot in figther or vehicle mode like macross figther, gundam wave rider, core fighter etc...)

3. Figure (any character in Scifi Movie, Anime, Comics, Games, eg. Dragon ball, ghost in the shell, Guyver, Kamen Rider, Marvels super heroes, final fantasy, etc...)

Any comments & contribution pls welcome.

I'm going to done my Yukikaze, Xwing, Macross SV51 for this!!!

Bomber Vince - April 12, 2009 07:42 AM (GMT)
I vote for figure...

KIRIN - April 12, 2009 08:20 AM (GMT)
I go for figure. :D

At least I can build off my Kamen RiderNo.1, Guyver and Motoko Kusanagi. :D

landyshah - April 12, 2009 08:39 AM (GMT)
Vehicles!! Hehe

Loo CK - April 12, 2009 09:42 AM (GMT)
Mecha or vehicle if you want to initiate the first SFTPMS sci-fi build. More subject matter.....

Where's my MaK?

pcomet84 - April 12, 2009 11:21 AM (GMT)
Mecha and sci fi vehicle , i got alot in my stash...

RX-78-2 - April 12, 2009 11:25 AM (GMT)
No need to vote, all will be in!!!!
actually i mean all will be included but the judging will be in 3 different categories!!
So basically we want to have all Scifi kaki in this time!!!

We can try to get more sponsors on this subject. Littak already agreed verbally on some prizes.

Loo,
Mak = SF3D, will fall into Mecha category!!! ;)

Those who build movie characters like alien, predator, Terminator, Godzila, etc.. will go to Figure Category too!!!!

btw, should be split out another diorama category?

pcomet84 - April 12, 2009 02:11 PM (GMT)
Any rules and regulations and time to submit??

OOB or mod require?

cptan - April 12, 2009 02:35 PM (GMT)

RX-78-2 - April 12, 2009 04:53 PM (GMT)
No specific rules and regulations right now, to be decided soon.
It should be something like 'Show Off Your Scifi Kits', build and show something you like.
OOB or Mod also can! as long as you feel happy to show.

Previous Bakuc winning kits can be show case there but won't be judged.

cptan, we all know u r figure sifu!!! that's why i split out the figure catagory specially for you guys who have a lot of great & nice figure to share!! :P

When is this GB planned for?

Finally have a reason to build my Snowspeeder LOL

beachbum - April 13, 2009 04:30 AM (GMT)
After another super loooong modelling slump and several unfortunate start/stop back attempts which included blowing up my brand new Dremel, sticking my fingers together with superglue, etc. I finally started things rolling again with sticking Jean Luc Picard (from Andrea M) to the base yesterday.

Going to work on him and give him away to my brother when he's back in June so if the build is around that time the Captain should be ready. Otherwise the Build will be a good excuse for me to dig out my heavily dust covered box of MaK figure. :)

koowilliams - April 14, 2009 01:22 AM (GMT)
WECHAN... i think you best narrow down the title for this round Sci-Fi things... come to think about it, if StarCraft model can make it, FREDDY KRUGGER might just fit in as well. too diverse liao i guess...

To answer the question whether a kit s sci-fi or not, one must know what is Sci-Fi?

Vehicles from sci-fi would be anything from Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Space 1999 (Shah, ahem! ^_^ ) and other Gerry Anderson stuff, etc.

For figures, there's fine line between sci-fi figures and other genres like comics, monsters, etc. I guess it depends on individual's POV. To me sci-fi figures/creatures would be things like any characters of Star Trek, Star Wars, Robocop, Terminator, Aliens, Predators and the like.

Figures such as Spiderman, Venom, Hulk would fall under comic characters. Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhies, Leatherface can be considered as monsters. As for Dragonball, Doraemon, Kiteretsu; I would consider it as manga stuff, not sci-fi.

Ok... enough with my opinion on what's sci-fi or not. Don't want to write another karangan (more like kitab actually) about sci-fi  . I would like to see sci-fi groupbuild as some event that'll be more challenging as it progresses.

Example:

For first GB, maybe we can have something that majority can relate to like pop-culture sci-fi such as Hollywood's Star Wars, Star Trek, etc and Japanese mecha stuff.

For next GB, maybe customization on a specific sci-fi subject, say maybe X-Wing and see who can come up with some new design or take on an X-Wing. Who knows, maybe there is a bomber X-Wing, heavily armored X-Wing and what not.

Then, we can have something like a 'box of stuff' challenge where everyone uses what they have in a spare bin to create their own sci-fi stuff. Weapons, vehicles, robot... whatever!

For this sci-fi GB, I haven't decided what to send in eventhough I have lots of things on my workbench. Mostly Gundams and mechas. I'll decide later.

masterqq - April 14, 2009 03:00 AM (GMT)
macross lah.. for me..

koowilliams - April 14, 2009 03:20 AM (GMT)

landyshah - April 14, 2009 03:37 AM (GMT)

RX-78-2 - April 14, 2009 01:27 PM (GMT)
Xamel, great clarification on scifi!!! I already mixed up with ACG since Gundam, Macross etc are mainly from Animation but now become big group of mecha modellers!!!

anyway, now still at brainstorming stage! will be finalized soon!!!

Awie,

That's my interpretation of Sci-Fi, not a definite one :D . Anyway, since this will be the first Sci-Fi Groupbuild, I'd like to see a lot of turn up for this event.

I think the 3 category suggested is good enough. But I think additional category for diorama may be required, if necessary.

RX-78-2 - April 15, 2009 06:55 PM (GMT)
yes boss!!!
my initial idea of making it into 3 cat is to make it easier for judging bcoz there are totally different judging criteria for the 3.

RX-78-2 - May 18, 2009 04:36 AM (GMT)
