y kinetic can only sponsor on sept?

Poopeh - April 8, 2009 06:50 AM (GMT)
No. That way have more time for more people to build, especially Kinetic kits of course. With more demand, then can ask for MORE prizes from them.

klay - April 8, 2009 06:54 AM (GMT)
so.. do we expect to have cheaper kinetic kits after the GB :P

Bomber Vince - April 8, 2009 06:56 AM (GMT)
there's Merdeka event on Aug, so most of the modellers will be exhausted at that time, I thin July is better, since there's lots of kinetic kits sold, why not we have a special award called the best Kinetic viper?

Poopeh - April 8, 2009 07:00 AM (GMT)
Kinetic award will be very likely.

If the demand is big enough i can discuss with HHQ for some discount for modellers buying Kinetic kits and building them up for VGB.

Just a quick question here... what are the differences between F-16B and F-16D? Both are 2-seater. I'm planning to build the IDF 'Netz' F-16B as well.

There's no F-16B in 1/48 scale as far as I know.

Could be wrong, but I think its something to do with the blocks
A/B's blk 1, 5,10, 15
C/D's blk 25, 30,32,40,42,50,52,52+,60

More info on the differences

There's no F-16B in 1/48 scale as far as I know.

A F-16B is basically a two-seat trainer version of the F-16A. The F-16D was originally intended as a two-seat trainer version of the C model.

Hasegawa has a 1/48 F-16B+ (Block 15). Last available a couple years back.

Kit wise, the differences would be in the tailfin base, engine, instrument panels and depending on which block of D model, the nose wheels & door, main wheels & doors and also the intake.

Most of what you need to build a B can be found in the Hasegawa F-16D Block 30 set. You just need to go find a A/B type tail fin.

klay - April 9, 2009 09:59 AM (GMT)
since the engine is diff (B = PW, D = GE), does that means the burner nozzle oso different? coz i've one acad f-16A/C, i find the nozzle a bit diff from tamiya f-16c.

or it is different due to different manufacturer (acad/tamiya)??

thanks ^_^

klay,

No not entirely right.

You see, all F-16A & B aircraft are powered by the P&W F100 turbofan engine.

Whereas, the F-16C/D have versions using the P&W F100 & GE F110, which depends on the production block.

The first production block of F-16C/D (Block 25) were all P&W F100 powered.

After that, if the block number ends with '0', it means GE F110 powered. If it ends with '2', means P&W F100 powered.

For example, the F-16CJ is available in both Block 50 & Block 52 versions.

f-4dablemodels - April 9, 2009 10:22 AM (GMT)
The Academy F-16A/C kit can be built as an A+ (Block 15) or a C Block 25 (also as a C Block 32) version, which both use the P&W F100 engine. However, they only give you decals for a C Block 25.

The Tamiya F-16CJ is a Block 50 jet, so it has the GE F110 engine.

You ae right in that one of the main distinguishing feature would be the different tailpipe petals for each engine type.

KIRIN - April 9, 2009 10:56 AM (GMT)
Since this GB gonna be a official one, can we have a sub forum/section for this GB, can we, moderator?

Scratch - April 9, 2009 02:39 PM (GMT)
Klay,

Just to add to Jason, GE powered F-16Cs & Ds generally have larger intakes as compared to PW powered Vipers. There are a few exceptions for early production GE powered F-16Cs & Ds which use the standard intakes.

:D

harman.. if you're looking for Hase B/D.. quite hard nowadays.. might be better to get the Kinetic 2-seater and convert them to what ever version you wish.. :D

if got the fund, i would invest in another CJ so that i can use the xtra intake in the box so i can make the GE powered (Block end with '0') use the big intake (or vice versa for the P&W ones)..
