Title: VGB Multiple Viper Build
Description: Israeli F16I Sufa and more...

Bomber Vince - April 7, 2009 02:07 PM (GMT)
this build is for both SMM and VGB

user posted image
the kit is bit oily, so i washed with dish washing detergent. Just look at the sprue man, no wonder this kit cost that much, but now I know it's a reasonable price.

user posted image
As usual, I will start with the canopy as it's the part that needs the most time. there's a mould line in the middle...

hashaney - April 7, 2009 04:26 PM (GMT)
BV, Well done!!! Let the Sufa ROCK...

Mej,

Thanks, but nothing done yet... but now done bit of things lar...

user posted image
Canopy polished and tinted with my usual way

user posted image
This is how I keep my tinted stuff from dust.

user posted image
The intake ring is a separate part, makes painting easier, but bit "cacat"

user posted image
the "cacat" areas can still be seen after build, so I have no choice but to repair it.

user posted image
Great details

Fitting so far ok

scud b - April 7, 2009 11:41 PM (GMT)

kuman - April 7, 2009 11:50 PM (GMT)

looking good vince.....dah kenyang belum makan "ular"?

Bomber Vince - April 8, 2009 05:36 AM (GMT)
thanks for the attention guys,

scud b,
I can use those weapons on my other Viper, so worth it.

Kuman,
as what mej, said, it is a 2 piece but fit quite well, only small joint lines are visible.

Ahow,
Those are "cerita lama", most of them were on display during last year SMM, I build modern armour only, but really admire ur work.

Mej,
U are right, in the society, the "racun" is everywhere, anywhere, come out of no where!! hehe, and recent years I build mosly planes because of the on going event.

Mat selam,
kali ini tak boleh makan Ular, banyak kit nak siap untuk SMM.

...By getting a plastic figure to keep an eye on the canopy?.. :D

Be careful don't crack the canopy

KIRIN - April 8, 2009 09:48 AM (GMT)
Nice one buddy!

OT : Can we request a new sub-section in the forum for this groupbuild? So we can put every WIP of the F-16 there and I believe it will look more organize. B)

Bty, Here's some update on the canopy

user posted image

Since I have extra clear yellow, I tinted my Academy F-16 canopy as well, I will use this kit to build the Dutch F-16A Dirty Diana, Still can't promise this can be ready for the official VGB.

The front sufa's canopy receive a yellow tint, I masked the rear canopy with masking and sprayed TMY clear yellow thinned with Gunze Levelling Thinner.

user posted image
a 2mm trimming required on the left side to fit well.

thanks for viewing, c&c are welcome.

dry-fitting, yiekes!! gap!!!

Vincent, first of all... U want to put Phantom pilot in? It OK but lot of work to do bcoz Phantom pilot use centre stick, Viper pilot used side stick... Lot of adjustment to do and furthermore, this Viper pilot office is quite small bro... banyak sanding n filing... Me must do bcoz my Sufa is AIRBORNE!!!!

Sufa Pilot ref? don't have at the moment... I hantam aje... janji ade pilot in 48th scale

Found the Phantom pilots, but they are too macho to fit in the tiny viper cockpit. Looks like they need to go for slimming sessions.

user posted image
dry fit before gluing together...

Mej,
I have 7 days left to finish the model.

enghui - April 12, 2009 11:28 PM (GMT)
Very nice step by step Vince.I love the double color canopy, very well done!

kuman - April 13, 2009 12:16 AM (GMT)
:P looking good BV..
just add the seatbelts.. like major said its the regulations...follow it

now its ready for painting? :D
7 days? its still a long way to do.. you can do it..!

kuman

Bomber Vince - April 13, 2009 05:25 AM (GMT)
Enghui,

This is the first time I do a 2 tone canopy, there's slight gold mix in but can't see well in the picture.

Lan,
due the time constrain, I think it's a no-no again for pilots, will just add the seat bealts.

but both if them needs to go to slimming sanctuary before they can fit in, major surgery!!! :D

noticeable steps on the side panels

user posted image
bottom view

user posted image
the kit provide only one part with a hole in the side panel (suppose to have a search light). The sufa does not have any search light and this is not mention in the instruction.

user posted image
big seam, but only one side

user posted image
steps and seams

user posted image
headache!!!

Bomber Vince - April 18, 2009 04:48 PM (GMT)
user posted image
I can only align one line at a time, others??? darn!!

user posted image
pin marks? what the heck is that, this thing do not exist in Hase F-16-D

user posted image
I really don't understand...... <_<

user posted image
this panel will not fit in without trimming and sanding. look at the edges... the instrument panels turn out nice after painting

user posted image
basic build done, filling up time.

user posted image
this is one of my favourite shots, the Kinetic Viper has lots of fine details as well as unnecessary errors... if compare to the Hase one, sharper lines, easier build but lack of details. (no rivets hole)

Bomber Vince - April 18, 2009 04:58 PM (GMT)
user posted image
sanded smooth and putty applied

user posted image
solving the problem now

user posted image
the search light hole were filled using bondite, sanded smooth then filled again with TMY extra thin putty (home made)

user posted image
lots of sink marks in the air brake were filled and sanded smooth, I choose to build it close coz the kit plastic is too soft, it's bit distorted...

user posted image
my 'susah"

hashaney - April 19, 2009 01:47 AM (GMT)
Vincent. now I salute u back, I don't even filled the gaps coz it will be covered during painting. Some steps can be minimise during gluing and alignment... I reduced step and gap by using "glue squirting" technique and brush away with old toothbrush... About the search light hole, have you search correctly bcoz I didn't used that one...

mejŪ

PS: You are absolutely correct, Hase F-16I lack detail and panel line so soft... Only extra work is needed on Kinetic and the PAYOFF is worth watching and admired...

azlandiver - April 19, 2009 06:07 AM (GMT)
looking good big brother "Tin Man" :D

susah macam mana pun sure kau boleh kaw tim punye la kan

keep it up ;)

Bomber Vince - April 19, 2009 07:23 AM (GMT)

Thanks Mej.

some update today, after around 4 hrs of work.

user posted image
All landing gears painted with Igsenia white, this is the most complex landing gear that I've ever build, and it's still not done yet!!!

user posted image
front and rear landing gears done, it's very close to the real thing, I don't think any other 1/48th kit in the market can be better

user posted image
sucks again!! canopy can't close after putting in the inner frame...darn!! looks like trimming again

user posted image
everything are finally done, all tiny winy parts are installed, hope that I can start painting tomorrow.

thanks for viewing, c&c are always welcome.
