continuing for my hunt of hornets......here is another one from me :D
started build since last week after a short break from the "Blackjack" & have to stop awhile as I received a shocking news that makes me stunned. my cousin just passed away cos of accident so the whole family are still in grieving & as a respect to them i have to go back to hometown for a burial & everything
and now start to build again.....just finished with the upper & lower fuselage, no problem for the fitting at all :D
this is what i like with the hobbyboss kit

only minor gaps here

and here

decals are nice ^_^

thats the progress for now.....please comments & critics as usual guys
thanks B)
cheerios!!!

This is panel line or monsoon drain???
Why so "BIG" and "DEEP"? For 1/72... I guess no further scribing unless necessary... My 2 sen.

PoohBear - April 6, 2009 08:12 AM (GMT)
Did you do some rescribe? The lines looks like they are a tad bit too deep & wide in one of the photos.
Hope this won't happen to you but the bird may just end up looking like line art after applying the panel wash.
cheers
azlandiver - April 6, 2009 08:12 AM (GMT)
Tuan major, thanks for your kindness
Yang tu longkang pun boleh terowong smart pun boleh huhuh
As you can see its a closeup pics for sure it looks BIG & DEEP
Just my half a kupang
Yup PoohBear I do some rescribing maybe a little too much
kuman - April 6, 2009 08:28 AM (GMT)
so Lan...

PoohBear - April 6, 2009 08:30 AM (GMT)
What did you use to scribe?
dremel - April 6, 2009 09:10 AM (GMT)
dalam sgt n too thicklah bro....reduce sikitlah....btw....nice progress so far ;)
druid_99 - April 6, 2009 09:56 AM (GMT)
To reduce the thickness of the lines, just give it a good sanding job overall.
landyshah - April 6, 2009 10:05 AM (GMT)
Ish Apa ni
Kata nak buat sabre, kluak pulak F18. Macam la tak cukup orang buat F18....Nak kena rotan! LOL :D
But otherwise, good work so far, except I must agree about the lonkang. U dont need to rescribe every kit bro, remember scale effect. If in real life the plane had panel line that huge, it wont fly. In 1/72, halussss jer line dia....
Keep em coming bro, ko nyer productivity better than my Osa boat rite now !

this is what i always do Im, sand until the panel lines are in fine shape :D
poohbear-i used tools from multifilla for the panel lines & blackhead remover
bang Dre-thanks bro, ketebalannye akan dikurangkan jua
shah- lu tak abis2 dengan sabre tu  nanti dapat la minggu ni kot tak pun minggu depan ke huhuhu......don't worry mak masak kari once the bird is in the hands you'll be the first one to know aighhttt!!! B)
cepat-cepat la buat Osa tu aku nak tengok kalernye :P
lan kuman-thanks :D maybe i have to cut a thin plastic strip as the instrument panel & place the decals on it as you can see the layout is useless....it wont fit the decal at all
thank you all for the input.......as you all know i'm still in a learning stage

Lan Selam, ingatkan u guna pisau toreh gotah..... lol. Takpe janji lepas ni u kena mempelas habis-habisan... :D
mejŪ
PS: Ini baru 1/72, kalau 1/32 agak besar mane lan kau scribe...
Bomber Vince - April 6, 2009 01:12 PM (GMT)
Mat selam,
I like longkang, in fact all men do... :P but this hornet punya longkang is too big and deep. As for scribing, use the back of a hobby knife will do. I made my own scriber. Hehe, DIY punya. Anyway, good work.
azlandiver - April 6, 2009 01:47 PM (GMT)
Tuan major-kalau ado la pisau gotah tu kat rumah ni haa dah lamo den cubo aaahh huhuhu
Don't worry tuan pelas mempelas ni akan senantiasa di ingatan
Kalo 1/32 rasanye la kan longkangnye besor kelingking kot ahaha
Vince-thanks bro, which longkang you like? Got 2 you know heheheh, all things you DIY ke? Bahaya tu huhuhu
From my eyes the line looks to me ok but maybe from the closeup pics its too big & deep. Well after I've done with the sanding job maybe it'll be ok. I hope so
Brutus - April 6, 2009 02:04 PM (GMT)
Lan..what BV suggested is a great and inexpensive way to go but if there's allocation, used this
Line Engraver I'd used it for many years now especially when building in 1/72 scale.
Those "Longkang" would be nice in 1/32 scale though but still looks a bit too deep from the pictures. Hope to see more of your progress then.
azlandiver - April 8, 2009 05:05 AM (GMT)
thanks johan for the line engraver tool link :D
some minor updates as of last night
as you all know this kit instrument panels are not that good & lucky me the kit include a decal for it eventhough no space designated for it

so I decided to cut a thin plastic card & placed it to the front of it & stick it. decal pun cacat after trimming just to fit in the cockpit

not that perfect but still its better than nothing :ph43r:

thats just it for now....thank you for viewing & feel free to comments
p/s:nak komen lebih-lebih pun dipersilakan.....i still wanna learn more  :D
dremel - April 8, 2009 05:36 AM (GMT)
cantique intrument [anel tu...mentang-mentanglah jari ko kecik....
jgn marah bro...aha....keep it up.... ;)
Bomber Vince - April 8, 2009 05:38 AM (GMT)
walaupun itu decal, tapi memang cun.
PoohBear - April 8, 2009 06:18 AM (GMT)
Simple way to get a fairly decent cockpit.
Pity the control stick doesn't look anything like one.
Nicely done. :)
azlandiver - April 13, 2009 04:01 AM (GMT)
thank you guys :D an amateur touch just to keep things looks better
moving on with some updates:
a few rounds of wet sanded done

primed coated

and sprayed dark grey for the top fuselage & painted the nosetip with gunze radome
hashaney - April 13, 2009 04:29 AM (GMT)
Mat Selam, Boleh ambik gambar close-up kat wing dia ke? Nak tengok "longkang dan terusan" yang u bina...:D
So far nampak cantik... Tengok dari jauh le...
mej®
landyshah - April 13, 2009 04:50 AM (GMT)
Wah laju ko ni ehhhh
This is a Hobby boss or what brand?
Seems like the cockpit is very basic...good job with the instrument panel and nice to see you start to build your own parts....
Tapi those big meter at the bottom look like from TNB plant....and stick looks like something to fit in longkang :P
Keep it up!
shamsul251 - April 13, 2009 05:02 AM (GMT)
Good job on the cockpit. Jgn lupa mempelas, ok!!
Ni Hornet no brapa, haa? At the rate you are building, i think you will have more Hornets than RMAF
azlandiver - April 13, 2009 09:36 AM (GMT)
shah-mana ada laju beb tersangkut-sangkut gak buat ni, this is hobby boss brand. cockpit dia bosan tahap gila tu pasal kena buat parts sikit :D
shamsul251-ni baru 2nd hornet la, masih ada lagi yang menunggu dalam Q
and finally to our pengkritik tetap AF (Aircraft Forum ye bukan Akademi Fantasia  ) tuan major, gambar close-up. still nampak besau kot but its ok, for my next project i will use the new tool ;)

thank you all for viewing & comments
hashaney - April 13, 2009 10:12 AM (GMT)
ADiver aka Mat Selam.... Oooo!!! ekau panggil den Pengkritik Tetap AF ya... xpe... nanti kau!!!
Memang bosar line kau beb... Guna Line engraver yg halus sikit kalau minat sangat nk cakar-cakar (jangan jd cakar ayam sudah le) Bro Brutus suggest tu is a good tool actually.
mej®
PS: Sedap juga guna perkataan mempelas... :D
Silantra - April 13, 2009 05:53 PM (GMT)
kire ok la longkang size nih..... mat selam ni memang suka menyelam dalam longkang lurah sume............
lepas ni dia dah ade tools baru beb..kita tengok ape result longkang dah jadi sempit ke tak
anyway, like u said bro, the longkang are purposely made that deep in order to compensate the thick spray can paint.... shallow longkang wont be that pronounce to be seen in 1/72... heck this really justify the longkang project........
keep it up bro...............
ps: Tuan Major peminat AF no 1 ke??

MINTAK SELISIH MALAIKAT 44!!!! I jarang atau tak pernah pun tengok ini Akademi Fantasia... Apatah lagi citer yang se genre dengan dia. BORING GILA PUNYA CERITA!!!!
Mat Selam should have also the LINE ENGRAVER recommended by Bro Johan Brutus...
Maybe it justifiable using that "Monsoon" size drain if the paint is thick, but my 2 sen says "size wise should be maintained but make it deeper should be appropriate"...

tango berkilo-kilo beb :D
macam tau-tau je orang suka menyelam tang area mana akakakaka
the hornet is complete last night......malas nak buang masa so pulun je abiskan malam tadi  :D

the tailfin alphabets should be written CE but there's another version of it in the decal that wrote AD....similar to my nick ADiver B) so i chose to put this one

thank you all for viewing & comments as usual :D
p/s : para juri & pengkritik tetap AF :P ....hasil kerja ini dipersembahkan untuk anda menilai
sekian terima kasih.......... ;)

dremel - April 14, 2009 07:01 AM (GMT)
cantik azlan....kemas....just 1 jer...panel line tu mcm di lukis2....tebal sgt kot....
overall finishing nice ;)
pengalaman akulah...memula pakai scriber or menyengeriber ni....usually tangan n jari kita terlalu berkuat sgt.....lemah lembut jer lan, jgn cuba sekali nak terus dalam....relax jer.... :)
btw welldone.... ;)
2 cents
Naza
Silantra - April 14, 2009 07:57 AM (GMT)
congrats lan..
cam abg naza cakap, longkang too pronounce plak.... maybe lepas ni dengan alat yg betol lurah tu dapat di lorek dengan begitu baik.........
syabas org muda!
landyshah - April 14, 2009 09:21 AM (GMT)
Wah lau, mmg record timing laaaa..........
Quite kemas overall, well done on finishing bro :D
Kalau tuan benarkan, saya bagi 2-3 komen:
1. Personally, I feel the panel line detract from the model....too black/obvious....start to look like Gundam or die cast model. Ko tengok real plane, mana ada nampak lines mcm tu....
2. Some dark wash kat undercarriage and wheels sure nampak lg cun, lift out the details. Kasi sikit weathering also, ko tahu la US Navy plane ni nampak tampal tampal punya
3. Ada mcm gap bwah windscreen depan?
Anyway, congrats. Sabre next? :D
rtfoe - April 14, 2009 11:01 AM (GMT)
Diver,
Pretty good finish, a little heavy on the panel lines. If you can't mist over with spray can the next time use a lighter shade or dilute the wash.
The gap in front under the windshield can be covered with diluted white glue or Tipex wiped with Gunze thinner or lighter fluid then painted over.
Like Landy described quite Gundamish. But I would be proud of it...man you build fast too.
Richard.
PoohBear - April 14, 2009 11:13 AM (GMT)
Line art look aside, it looks like you've managed a clean & neat finish. Well done.
What's next on the bench?
cheers
druid_99 - April 15, 2009 12:07 AM (GMT)
LanDiver, overall nampak you are improving by each built models... that's good although like all the others suggested, there is always room for improvement. I don't want to talk about the panel lines because I think the others has highlight it.
My comments is on the finishing of the decal because the panel lines went under the decal instead of through the decal. This makes the decal looks like stickers. You should have ensure that the decal is properly softened and do the lines on top of the decal as well. If you look on the tail decal, the head of the viking it looks like it is slapped on rather than it is painted onto the tail.
My five cents from a guy who didn't do planes much... hehehe... :D
azlandiver - April 15, 2009 04:54 AM (GMT)
thanks a lot guys for your comments & inputs
appreciate all of it......
still need to improve a little bit like some of you guys suggested.....decals also a bit thick thats why looks like that
as for the next project haven't decided yet maybe some Soviet AC or F-16
once again.....thank you :)
